Netscape Users on the new format

Hi.. it seems that there is still a problem with the new software for prune. Users of Netscape v4.x still seem to be viewing the forum pages as one line to a paragraph, meaning that you have to scroll 3 or 4 screens or more to the right to read the paragraph.

It seems to work ok with IE and I don't know about Netscape v6.x

Would any users of v4.x please advise if you are in the same boat or not.

Ta

Trusting our Masters in the prune flight deck can fix this in due course.

Arrow Netscape and the Forum

Cogwheel

I think it will be the version of Netscape your using. The current version is 6.2. The early 4.xx Netscape browsers run just fine, its the html and java scripts that have changed, problem is older Netscape cannot translate on various and different sites, different problems. That was my experience. Update for free via download from Netscape. I have actually gone back to a v4.5 Netscape because of x-windows problems I have running netscape on a Unix box. Cannot say I can vouch for Microsoft as I use their proprietary browser there.

Cheers

I don't get a choice on some PCs that I use including the one at work. It should work with Netscape 4.x. Netscape works fine with every other page I visit. It also works fine with the front pages of the forums, but not with the post pages.

As for Netscape 6.x Well, my experience to date is not good so will have to wait. And for IE, well nuf said.

It really would be nice to have it fixed. Maybe some IT expert amoungst the readers can explain??

If you're considering another browser to solve a new format Pprune problem, rather than risk a slow (Netscape 6 - v4.08 was quicker and more stable here) or intrusive (IE5.5) 'upgrade', check out Opera 6 on most PC magazine CDROMs or at www.opera.com.

Quick, clever and intuitive. A breath of fresh air in the browser world where the big two seem to be chasing each others tails (while stomping on international compliance), and Opera doesn't mind the new Pprune screens - in fact, you can resize the window content on the run. I'm using it for this reply (toes crossed!).

For those who prefer the Netscape browser and who have been having trouble fitting the new Pprune format on the screen, good news is at hand.
Netscape Browser has basically been replaced by a new browser from the same group called MOZILLA.
It can be downloaded from :
http://download.com.com/3000-2229-10105112.html
It is very stable, the on screen layout and features will be familiar to Netscape users, and it includes a built in e-mail program like Netscape. Your browser bookmarks will automatically transfer from existing version of Netscape, but print and copy your e-mail address book as that does not transfer easily.
And with MOZILLA browser the new Pprune format fits the screen perfectly.

I have found wrap problems with Netscape 4.79.
No problems with I.E.. Netscape 6 or Opera.
Have only been using Opera for a coupla days but it appears to be MUCH faster than either I.E. or Netscape.
I am going to continue with Opera for a while...support the underdog, especially when they have a better product.

2Dogs Ive used Opera 5.11 ever since it came out and I give it a BIG thumbs-up! But PPRuNe requires Opera 6.01 for all that new java sh!t. So I use 6.01 for PPRuNe only and 5.11 for every other site.

Cogs the new Nutscrape 6.2.2 is a bit of a doddle so keep your 4.79 handy. I have.
