eisle,
You will notice that the debate centres around FF points, lounges and service issues. DJ does not offer these. If Tesna were to fail tomorrow, QF would be the only carrier in Oz providing business travellers with the service they desire.

eisle sI see what you are saying.
To clarify - pre Ansett collapse flew QF and QF Regionals and AN and AN Regionals, and DJ when possible to do so. At that time travel on DJ was restricted due to frequency and routes serviced.
As DJ's routes and number of flights have increased we have used them more since the Ansett collapse and will continue to use them along with Ansett and QANTAS. DJ now also offer better booking options for businesses than previously.
We also use charter operators within areas of Australia not serviced by the regionals, and a variety of major international carriers including QANTAS for overseas travel.
Much of my travel is at very short notice - often less than 6 hours - so it is who has the seats and can get me there when I need to be there, and preferably via the most direct route. Obviously where and when time permits we try for the best deal, however it is seldom that I have more than two days notice before travelling - at best. Also under these circumstances the tickets must be able to be changed as I often do not know an exact return date so we select a nominal return date and then change it as required.
Yes - you are right - I want to see healthy competition and no monopolies - this also means not having the cashed up big guys forcing the other players into ridiculous fare wars that achieve nothing long term for anybody.
I just want to see the travelling public have a choice, and as many as possible of those people who lost their jobs in the Ansett collapse re-employed - and preferably all our airlines to remain in business.

Hey GG
Copied that! Lil bro had that prob recently travelling ex SYD to DN. He's a QC member & his mate is also, however wasn't travelling that day so was refused entry as his guest.
Friend rings his travel agent makes a booking for that night from SYD to somewhere, enters QF club. .'legitimately' then calls agent to cancel booking (beer in hand) once safely inside the confines of the lounge.
The things we do!!

Hey MissB . .Sad world hey mate
You know, I'm sitting here, reading this thread, and thinking, MY GOD, there is an entire market out there, not being tapped into. . .Why does it have to be the Airline who offers an exclusive lounge? I'm sure, that for a High annual fee, there would be enough willing to pay, but it would certainly weed out the hangers-on, and essentially, take the Idea of a Business Lounge, back to roots.. .If only I had the money to get something like that off the ground hahahahaha!!!
At least then, you'd cut out a lot of whinging and congestion in the current set-up. Everyone's happy....cept the Airlines, in this case, and currently only; Qantas
Anyway, a girl can dream.......
