Question Next Coastwatch Contract?

A question for the boys and girls flying for Coastwatch.

Has the tendering process for the next contact begun? Any proposed aircraft types?

How is life in general at NAS? Can't say I miss it yet but I do miss the Dash 8 (ok and the 200ft photographic passes!)

I doubt it. NJS have the contract for about twelve years with recent extensions added due the costs associated with the introduction of extra Dash8's. Contract started in 1995 so it will be a while I'd say.

Latest is Surveillance are replacing their BN2 with C208. Not sure about the truth behind that, but why not continue the rumour. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

spruce, not quite 12 years. maybe close though. It is one contract, whoever does the piston stuff does the whole lot, at this stage. That may change. I think they would pxss the islanders off as quick as look at them if they could, although the 208 is a great option they will not be replacing the best that british rail could offer just yet.
