Why can't Air NZ fly domestically in Australia??

Nope, stole an engineering job off an Australian. Once you get a job in the industry you will learn some of the terms like conehead.

Although when I applied for my job I was the only applicant with all the required licences - so I guess I didn't steal and Aussies job.

Since Qantas has just spent millions getting its domestic operation up and running here I think they would look like the losers to me!!!
