Duk - good call as I did vote for the coallition - because Labor down here has a collective room temperature IQ and is more likely to give land rights on the individually painted aeroplanes to try to grab votes than the Libs.
I like Americans theory of a clean shiny aeroplane with a few cheat stripes.
Leave the pictures in the departure lounge and have a clean lighter aeroplane.
I did however love the look of Braniff's "Big Orange". That was one smart looking 747 - and their "flying colours" was a wonderful sight in flight - a DC8 (63 series???)

What's the prob, guys? Take a look at the YSSY int'l ramp sometime, or for that matter, LHR for instance - eveything's a boring white and designed by just a few 'well-known consultants' (eg. Landor). The eye-catchers do something different - bit of colour here & there - and I tell you, Wunala sure stands out when it goes over central London at 06.00!! These a/c all operate to different markets - the 744 on the longs, the 743 to Asia/regionals (now & then to FCO) & the new 738 domestics - so they don't get to share the ramp that often but the colour gets around. Aircraft really are boring and commoditised these days - bring back individual names (yes, QF do, but sadly few others) and make it a bit interesting for us SLF again. We don't do it every day, like some of the apparently jaded scribes to this bulletin board, and like to have something to look forward to and remember about our flights. Just think yourselves lucky it's not the lovely snot-green that Braniff put on a few of its aircraft!!!

Its all good and well having new a/c and new pain schemes, but more than a few of the rats fleeet need a re-sray or new stickers.... .Some B763 and B744 are looking very faded and tired. And 1 of the 76's has had a new un-painted nose cone for a few weeks now. . .But i suppose when your pax board thru the aerobridge thay only see he freshly spray & wiped area around the door.. .But anyway , back to the issue at at hand, personally. .VXB = YUK!!!! <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

Without wanting to sound completely stupid, doesn't this kind of 'complex' livery make cracks/damage etc harder to spot?
To be honest, I'm not keen on it. It looks like cherry tomamos have burst whilst chasing it round the plastic tray with a plastic fork, spraying it all over the yucky looking airline seat cover!
What is it with airliner livery nowadays? There seem to be an excessive number of rather strange livery around.
