Talking What has happened to the great Australian Sense of Humour???

....I was wondering if someone could help me. I am living in Auz at the moment, and I would like to know if anyone has come across the famous sense of humour. Aussies are wonderful, funny and warm people, its a pity that seems to be gone after sept 11th. Come on don;t let the the side down, and loosen up!! . .(See Does anyone want a passenger????)

MMG It's stilll there, just slightly hidden at the moment in the shadow of what is transpiring in the world in general and our little patch of paradise in particular.

There is a lot of uncertainty for many, which is tending to dampen our usual happy attitude.

I was reading some statistics recently that also demonstrated that Australians in general are working significantly harder and longer than almost any other country in the world for the same standard of living. I know I am and anecdotally every body else I know.

In this industry specifically, most everybody is holding their breath. Some sadly are beginning to turn blue.. .There has been a fundamental change to the usual order of things and it's taking a while to sink in that this is the new way.. .It is a different world now, for better or worse who knows, but it is.

You raise an interesting point and I am prepared to let this thread run for a moment, on the basis that it might provide some light relief and therapy for the angst around here at the moment.

But only up to the point that the LACK of Australian Sense of Humour causes me to close it.

Cool

As a result of underperformance in recent years, the Great Aussie Sence of Humour (GASH) was placed into Liquidation in mid September. Accountants Mr Mark Time and Mr Mark Down were appointed Joint Liquidators.

At press time the two Marks were understood to be seeking the return of some GASH from New Zealand, believed to be illegally exported from Melbourne on a Prime Ministerial C130 Transport.

Woomera & Torres

Its nice to see the Aussie spirit alive and well.

Lets hope the current situation passes quickly and quietly, both for experienced aviators and wannabes alike.

Warmest regards

MMG

Woomera.I must take issue with your comment about having "the same standard of living". There is nothing I have witnessed in the past 5 years around the world that comes close to the Oz standard of living. Many Ozzies do not realise just how good they have it down there.

I am going back as I have seen life on the other side of the planet, and while the people are fantastic and there are many interesting places to see, there is truly no place like Oz on earth.

Yes, the politically correct fraternity have to a certain extent extolled their pathetic values on us. I cant stand political correctness. I love grabbing chicks on the ar$e and telling sexist jokes. I don't mean anything by it, it's just a good laugh. I fully support any female to grab my hoop as well.

As anal retentive as some might be, there is still no better place to be than Oz in my opinion.

Like everywhere in the world at the moment i guess we are trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel. We still have that graet sense of humour its just hard to keep it up all the time when things seem to fall around you in such huge ways especially in the industry that is you life blood - not just for our pays but for the entire way we live our lives.

Go down to a local on a good friday night and you'll still see that sense of humour - the girl who'd ar$e you're grabbing might not but i bet you mates will

You mention the light at the end of the tunnel, it seems that it has been switched off due to budget cuts! . .But times have their up's and down's and hopefully the light will shine brightly one again, and the MMG, you shall see the Aussie sence of Humour.. .And shakespere, you may have been dead for a while, but you still speak the perfect truth!. .

Kiwis have been discouraged from bringing their wives to the cricket.. .They keep jumping out of the stands and nibbling the grass.

I thought I would try the theory and walked up behind my accountant/office manager and grabbed her on the RRR's.....I GOT A BIG SMILE

Oh I long for the days when one could tell a joke about anything/one and not have to suffer the indignation of the PC's of this world.

As an example....was at a BBQ at Xmas and there was a rather attractive young lady there for a short period....after she left, the conversation went Lovely girl says one....Big girl says another....Big Legs says yet another....Big Tits says I....You recall that accountant/office manager I mentioned above, well I'm still trying to explain that remark to her

Aussies lost their humour?

Absolutely no way in the world as it is displayed for all and sundry to see on VH-VXB without use of nitrous oxide; the new 73 gash 800! The scheme even beats the airborne artistry of Air Niugini's A-300 Bird of Paradise from 'taim bipo'.
