predatory pricing!
The problem with aviation in Australia is not the ablity of airlines carrying passengers or the abitlity of the crews and staff to handle them. Whether you are virgin or ansett the problem is QF's influence over the whole political playing field. QF's shares should drop in the ensueing weeks due to the fact that a fair playing field should be established across the field!
Qantas's ability at the moment is that they can put both ansett and virgin out of business tommorrow if they wish.
They where given every thing on a platter when they floated and it hasn't changed.
The telecommunication industry has protection from predatory pricing in place to protect new entrants from the wrath of telstra!
Aviation should have and will have soon! This is a point the fox/lew consortium has negotiated with the government. A point that gives stability to all even, QF pilots who will be the next to get a pay cut! It's only a matter of time!
Lets hope virgin does not go down the same track as ansett and that corrigan is going to dick you all around, like NZ did with us!
I feel the corrigan bid is behind the 8 ball!
1. Unions, as no 1 creditors will not back it
2. Unions will not give negotiation support in regards awards
3. Not enough ansett staff will be employed
4. Fox is suppose to be a major contributor and supporter of the liberal party
5. Corrigan will not offer enough
6. There are already other plans for ansett terminals
7. Administrator signed an agreement with fox/lew, probably means big case against the adminstrator if lang get ansett
8. Government given support behind fox/lew
9. Unions support fox/lew
10. Creditors support fox/lew
Whether lang gets ansett or not, virgin should be allowed to stay in the market and should not be forced out due to predatory pricing from Qantas!
