Thumbs down Suspicious Middle Eastern Pax onboard A/C

This may serve as a notice to excercise caution toward Mid Eastern pax onboard A/C.
If you have an argument then you obviously haven't been watching TV!
To all you of disagreeance I suppose you'll wait till it happens again before you think seriously.

Don't start a witch hunt!

We need to implement a standard practice undertaken by most foreign Airlines by Code Romeo & Code Tango Alerts where we ensure the cockpit door is locked at all times,
No cockpit visits, Coms to the cabin only through the interphone and no movement of passengers forward of Row 1 unless invited by Cabin Crew (Who incidently must have there ID visable at all times)

The last thing we need is to exasperate the situation by treating people with suspicion because of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.

I have to agree with Le Pilot, we have to be carefull how we approach this.

To go and say that all Middle Eastern people are suspected terrorists could cause more problems than it solves. I hope that the group responsible if found quickly and they are dealt swift and severe punishment.

No passengers forward of Row 1 ???
Ever noticed where the forward toilets are on most airliners...adjacent to the cockpit door !

Be mindful that probably every Middle Eastern nation is in mourning today for the sad and tragic loss of life - just like the rest of us.

Don't turn this into race hate

Turbine:

In this case, would you mind telling us some more about the Palestinian custom of expressing mourning? Looks more like singing and dancing in the streets to me. But then, I've only spent 10 years in the Middle East....

BIscuit chucker, Having lived and worked in the middle east it is standard practice for airlines there to have body guards on all aircraft.usually around 5 obvious and around 3 covert. These guys search you as you enter the aircraft and if you want to visit the cockpit then you have to hand over your passport and be searched again. This is extreme but it is the world they live in.

Typical of Turbine, he seems to take the opposite view to everyone.
Certainly not everyone from palenstine is rejoicing but it is a major victory for Islam and most of those countries are muslim.
Turbine, having obviously limited life experience outside of Australias utopia in foreign culture; I suggest you think before you speak and change your graemlin attitude.

I remember the Oklahoma bombing and the anti mid east sentiment at the time. It turned out to be wrong. Please be careful as to who we point fingers at before the evidence comes. Let the authorities find out who did this and then carry out the required action.

If we are hasty and wrong (as opposed to measured and right) we could end up with more aircraft going down as a result of crazies responding to generalised accusations.

Remember we are in the aircraft.

I am very glad that Oz is a small nation on the world stage and we are a long way from anywhere. This is our best protection!

Cheers

Now, if I suggest that people of Irish appearance should also be checked, in case they're members of Sinn Fein, would I get flamed on PPRuNe Dunnunda?

Kofi Annan and others have called for cool heads to prevail. Judging from some of the comments herein, this challenge appears to be beyond the capacity of some.

This was not a religious or cultural act, however much those who perpetrate them may seek to pervert religious teachings as a way of justifying their selfish, murderous actions. It was purely and simply a bizarre political act committed by people in the grip of insane hatred, and who believe that strength of anger and hatred is its own justification.

The scenes of misguided individuals celebrating in Nablus is a media scene of an instant in time and cannot be taken to represent the response of the entire world Palestinian community let alone that of Islam.

Do not characterise this sad day as an act of war by 'Muslims' against the 'rest'. Islam is another Abrahamic religion that teaches--as do Christianity and Judaism--respect and love for the sanctity of human life. The gross distortions, quackery and corruption of Islam perpetuated by groups such as the Taliban and individuals such as Osama bin Laden should be recognised for what it is.

I add my sincere condolences to all others as we think now of the poor souls who perished. God bless them all...

Our company here has BANNED all M.E. pax from our flights for 7 days, to protect US offices in SGN and HAN from any posible risk, real or percieved or imagined. That saves me from having to throw them off myself.

Helibiggles. If I hadn't of gone through and read all your recent history of postings, I would have probably taken offence to your comment...

FYI, I have worked in numerous other countries around the world, and spent considerable time in the Middle East. It is a small, feeble brain that associates every Middle Eastern country with acts of terrorism.

I am directly affected by the tragedy with missing family in NY. If I can find it in my heart not to be judgemental, maybe you can too. However, when those that are proven to be responsible are caught, I will volunteer to fire the first bullet.

Remember, an act like that doesn't discriminate against race, religion or colour.

I know that this is an extremely serious and sad subject, however, on a lighter note, Bikki Chucker if you were to produce a white latex glove at the appropriate moment and 'snap' it onto your right hand, and suggest that there are other conditions to visiting the Flightdeck, I think you would get your 'point' across.

Condolences to anyone who has been touched by this tragedy.

Before making any decisions, bear in mind the following.241 marines killed by truck bomb in Beirut, humiliation of hostages taken by Iran, war with Iraq, bombing of
USS Cole, destruction of embassies in Kenya
and Tanzania, Saudi Barrack room blast. How
many airliners lost to PLO and others?
Who will stand up and apologise to all the
people killed, and their families, in this
latest act of undeclared war. Sorry, it is not politically correct to hold people responsible for their actions anymore. What
an invitation to come back with a worse
act of war. President Bush may at last have it right. Ascertain who it was, then hit them
hard, and any country that gives them sanction hit them harder.

Question

What is it with this anti Middle East stuff? Where was the anti White Christian stuff following Oklahoma??

Fanatics are the problem - not the race/religion of the fanatics. Fanatics come in all colours and races and seldom implicate everyone else of the same colour/belief. Does the IRA implicate all Roman Catholic whites? Lets stop blaming all Arabs and concentrate on hunting the guilty bastards down (whatever their colour/belief) and making them the gunship targets they deserve to be!! (Hope that didn't sound fanatical).

Turbine...hope you find them safe...
