Angel Send your thoughts to America

Fellow ANZAC's
As a kiwi in Canada, I can confirm that this incident has stopped life here. Complete shock. All airports are shut down and level 2 status is enforced. Everyone has been infront of the TV since 8am this morning.
I have started a thread on the 'North America' section of PPRUNE. Its called ANZAC Mourning.
NO RANTING OR CRAP. Leave something short and respectful to these people as they deal with their grief.
Lets show a massive amount of support to the American Pilots and families.
Steve

What happened in the US is despicable. Can you tell us exactly what is happening? What is a Level 2? How long will airports be closed for? Surely they will need to open the airways shortly. Won't the country just stop if they don't? Surely the best way to frustrate the Terrorists is to show that they can back to their feet quickly....

Any information would be appreciated

My condolances and best wishes to averyone.

I have recorded my thoughts on your North America thread.
Our industry again faces the dark face of terrorism, from which we must band together to learn and improve air travel to be safe for the travelling public.
Rest in peace.

The airport status here in Canada is SCATANA (security control of air traffic and navigation aids plan) Level 2.
Basically the only aircraft allowed airborne are Air Ambulance helicopters, Military and Government. If it goes to Level 3 then only the military are permitted into the airspace.
Vancouver international had an Air China 747 escorted in by F15's about 1hr ago and a representative was escorted from the aircraft to explain a comm's problem.
The Vancouver airport is packed with A/C from all over the world. Any aircraft inbound to the US was diverted here.
Hopefully tomorrow 1200 local, we may be able to fly within canada. However, being so close to the US no-one is expecting that to happen.

Thanks to fellow antipodeans who have replied to the ANZAC thread on North America. Its good to see that others give a damn.
These events remind us that OZ and NZ are the utopias of the Western world.

Lets try to keep it that way.

Currently the Canadian/US border is open on a limited capacity. Traffic is at a single file and every vehicle is being completely searched. You obviously can imagine the americans paranoia.
Airline passenger are mostly being bused to LA/Seattle if they are heading into the states. Many however are stuck without accomodation in Vancouver. I have not heard how these passangers are being cared for. The canadians are typically going above and beyond the call of duty.
TV is quoting that the American response will not be cruise missles but more than that. This could be all out warfare.
VERY bad day for all of us.

Keep it going guys,
The yanks appreciate your thoughts.
Over here the media are saying it may not be Benladden at all. Apparently too sophisticated for his expertise. They are considering Saddam and Iraq now....
This is madness.

God Bless the crew of the 757 that went down in PA - maybe they were able to have enough control to make a mass murder out of the question.

This has changed our world forever.

I am comforted to say that the emergency lock that American Airlines and United use are both effective - such could not be said of Pan Am.
