Question VB xhire AN

VB crosshired a AN A320 Saturday to operate ML LT ML as their - 800 was waiting parts from Boeing. To make matters worse, QantasLink had two 717's go u/s in HB after heavy overnight rain (28mm). This caused cancellation of two 717 flights ML LT.
Bad day all around except for AN

I've just come back from the Qantas hangar in Sydney and the Air Nauru 737 was there. A catering truck collided with it yesterday.

skylane,

Are you saying that the 717s were grounded AS A RESULT OF THE HEAVY RAIN? Glad I wasn't flying on one of them if that was the case.

I would think that probably moisture got into the avionics and created some problems. I understand one taxied and returned to the bay and that the other one didn't even start. It could have been the compass systems or possibily the screens or a screen. Moisture and electronics do funny things together.

Actually just remembered something: Saw a white VB aircraft the other day (well last month) and noticed the rego has CZQ (or CZ something). Did VB buy it from AN or do they xhire/lease/etc it from them?

CZQ is on short term lease to DJ (from AWAS I think). It's their only 733 and is only around for a few months hence the hybrid livery which is a great improvement on the standard one.
