Question Sunshine Coast

I am looking at relocating to the Sunshine Coast and wondering what flying schools are at Maroochydore and Caloundra. I have a grade 1 fixed wing instructor rating, instrument rating etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Top Spot Caloundra is lovely....spent 12 years there.

I know of a fellow PPRuNer up that way, goes by the name Nasa, but I have not seen him around for a week or so- he travels a fair bit. Click HERE for the link to his profile...it includes his email. He might be able to give you some local knowledge.
Good luck

Give Fogarty's Aviation Academy (FAA) a try - they're at Maroochy airport and are probably one of the larger operators, in terms of numbers of students.
Aahh, the beautiful Sunshine Coast - beautiful one day..perfect the next!

Not only is Caloundra a lovely spot, but it's also home to the Queensland Air Museum. Well worth a visit.

Hey GG.....I'm here, just being my normal quiet self

Don't really get involved with the flying schools all that much. Know the guys at Sunshine, Chopperline and QAS and they all seem like good people. Not heard anything nasty 'bout Maroochydore (you always hear the bad, never the good) so must assume they scrub up ok.

BTW FB & F111....I don't know whereabouts you guys are, but as I look out my office window towards Caloundra Airport, I can see A BLOODY CLOUD

Kaptain M Yes I that names seems to be one that comes to mind. Understand that the particular operation was noted for high taxiway speeds at KSA resulting in several nose wheel disintegrations ?

That would have been about 12 or so years ago rpt? I honestly don't recall, I was probably too young, bout 16 and not terribly interested at that age in the local aero club as what I was in the local night club :o

Cheers

Nomad VH-BFH at the Queensland Air Museum:
77 Nordic Aviation, Sweden
77 Hope Skyways, Denmark as OY-ATU
78 Back to Aust as VH-BFH
79 H.C. Sleigh (Forrestair)
79 Leased to Skywest Jet Charter, Perth
80 Stewart Island Air Service, NZ
81 To Southern Air, Invercargill as ZK-SAL
83 To Barrier Reef Airways as VH-BFH
84 WFS
86 To Maryborough as spares for Sunstate
90 Donated to QAM by Whitaker Holden

Eventually the aeroplane will be restored in Sunstate colours. Many parts still required, particularly u/c. TX engines and props would be most welcome also.

Cheers

Hello GG I don't visit pprune much these days. The family is very good.

NASA those clouds you saw yesterday are now producing rain so today is not a perfect day on the coast.

F111....Tell me about it.....After doing the shopping, (checked on my 402B that I just had relocated to Caloundra first), mowed the lawns, washed the house down, and all in the bloody rain.....first weekend for 6 months that I have not had four different games of soccer, at four different locations, at the same time, and look what happens.....I'm blaming John Howard for this.

Cool

Do you need someone to fly that 402B, I could be looking for a job soon if Ansett doesn't sort out their problems

F111.....if you could guarantee 20+ hours/month here on the Sunshine Coast, you'd be in like Flinn .....Currently talking with some nice folk in the Northern part of our fair country 'bout taking it for 12 months.

If that doesn't work out, I will be looking for a new home for it, so if you don't got no job, get an AOC and operate out of Caloundra and you got your first aircraft
