QF Hiring - Opinions
Just wondering whats the odds of being called up for the skills/psych test etc once one has the bare minimum requirements for direct entry?
Also when do you all think (if it even does happen) that QF will start "mass" hiring to fill the positions on all their new a/c. Just askin coz I have a few friends who have had the psych tests & apparently 'passed' but havn't heard a thing since.
Cheers

I'm ex Ansett with 13,000 hours and have been waiting since September although others from AN have gone through and others are still waiting. Apparently they can only accomodate six candidates per day and when I rang recruiting she said 400 AN pilots had applied. AN had 800 pilots total pre collapse.

More chance of something happening if you are in oz. Lots of available people there, but in the mean time don't move overseas to gain more experience because they couldn't give a flying about any time spent elsewhere gaining that time. Stick with it down under and your time will arrive alot quicker than for those that are outside the territorial waters.

Wingnut, could you please elaborate on the reasoning behind your comments? Not that I doubt what you say for a minute, as I am one of the many who did venture abroad for the interim, came back and passed all parts of the selection, and have heard nothing since. What you suggest certainly appears to be the case, but I was wondering if you know why, as myself and a lot of my expat Oz mates are scratching our homesick heads! Cheers.

Capt. XXXX. Simple really, all down to supply and demand. For those that have made the step offshore the way back is, at the moment, very difficult.(If you want QF.) With the demise of AN, as it's already been alluded to here, there is a flood of applicants with good qualifications. These are getting priority because, obviously they are available to come tomorrow if need be. Simply the dog eat dog world we live in has produced these consequences. The system is what sucks. But it's their system. So sit tight, its going to take a loooooong time.
Know of one person who recently put in an application and was told it would be six months before it even got looked at as they are concentrating with AN pilots and clearing the backlog. I can not say if this is true or not but talking to people in the know they say recruitment needs change on a daily basis.
