Waste, whilst I support the theory of 'don't like the thread, don't read', I think the view of those not involved in '89 is slightly different.. .. .For the most part, we DO want to read about '89 but we want to read about what happened and decide ourselves who were the idiots. We don't need those who didn't come back labelling those who did as scabs in order for us to work out what happened and what they are.. .. .I'm always interested to hear the thought processes of those involved and why they made the decisions they made. I can make up in my own mind what label I want to attach to them.. .. .I guess what I mean is tell your story but avoid putting the 'labels' on those whose decision making process led them in a different direction. . .. .I hope that makes sense.

Waste Gate,. .What you say is correct regarding people having a choice whether to open an obvious ’89 thread or not.. .What I, and I think most other people on this forum, have had a gutful of is the constant hijacking of totally innocent and unrelated threads to push a point of view about ’89 from whatever perspective.. .So we may choose to open a thread due to its title/poster/subject etc. only to be confronted at some point with……….you guessed it, MORE ’89 stuff!. .THIS is what most people are sick to death of, NOT the discussion itself! . .Discussion about the events and aftermath of ’89 is as inevitable as it is necessary.. .BUT, let’s not have every second thread here infected with it!!!!. .There is an obvious need for this to be discussed so let’s keep it confined to perhaps a separate forum or at least dedicated and appropriately titled threads so that we don’t have to read this stuff into our nineties if we chose not to.. .I have been around this forum a long time and have just about lost interest in it due to the constant bickering and sniping that takes place regarding ’89.. .As I have said, I don’t want discussion about ’89 to be gagged. To the contrary, I think it is necessary, just please confine it to one place or another so those who choose not to read about it can!. .Is that too much to ask? wolftam, I don’t know (and don’t particularly care) if you should be included in this category, But I can’t help but suspect that despite their protestations that ‘they were not part of it’ etc, many, if not most of those who wish all mention of 1989 to be relegated to some discrete, out-of-the-way folder where it will never be seen my most people don’t wish to be reminded of those unfortunate times for one reason or another.

ANDLU!. .I suspected someone (probably with a narrow mind and a heavy barrow to push) would suspect what you are insinuating.. .The answer is NO!!!!!!. .I was not directly involved in the dispute and am neither an '89er nor a scab but believe me I was close enough to have a VERY good view of what went on then and since.. .I flew with a lot of the '89ers pre dispute and my career was adversely affected by it (the dispute) afterwards.. .More information than that is not relevant.. .I still have friends on both sides of the "fence".. .Does that answer your question?. .If it doesn't then : quote "I don't particularly care" unquote!. .Waste Gate,. .Cheers!. . . . <small>[ 06 March 2002, 10:31: Message edited by: woftam ]</small>

Woomera, Towers etc, etc, etc, it appears to me that nothing has changed, so we moderate a bit but the issue WILL still be debated (I've just posted in another "understanding" we (89ers) are still getting it in the neck and U are doing nought!!). .. .So where to from here?. .. .From where I stand it seems that a "pussie" stand has been taken, yes some postings are over the top but the bottom line is you are trying to gag debate ---- not on!. .. .The state of play at the moment is a lot of guys are now out of work (some permanently) and the rest with buckleys chance, and thats because those of us that are the so called 89ers now CONTROL the state of play both her in Aus and in the expat world.
