Theo,
Make sure you get your figures correct before stating like you have.
AN had a 140-145 seat A320 going to Isa.
VB have a 160-165 seat 737 going to Isa. The way I see it is your percentages are a little out.
QFlink (& I stand to be corrected) are serviceing Isa with a 70 seat 146 twice a day. That's approx about 140 seats per day.
Just a suggestion, but I think your figures may need to be adjusted, especially seem as though VB has the greatest capacity out of anyone going to Isa in recent times.
Cheers

Sorry all, points about 146s considered and head pulled in! However I was making rough statements about loadings based on a 150 seat A320 and a 144 seat 737-700 hence the slight drop in capacity mentioned.
It was quite often discussed in the past that seperate am and pm services would be far more convenient for Isa residents. DJ's one type philosophy will obviously be a disadvantage for regional centres.
It poses the question that had Qantas offered a morning or evening 64 seat jet service at current pricing levels in the past would they have received good support?
One would assume the answer to be "Yes".
If so why didnt they? Will we see a return to a less convenient but more cost efficient one service a day and a price hike?
There's no doubt about it, VERY deep pockets and a huge fleet to move around where ever competition calls for it will make it very difficult for DJ and Ansett Version X.
Keeping a loss making new service on such routes just long enough after the other guy has pulled out will be the only tricky thing for Geoff to do.
Removing it too quickly will alert Mr Fels while staying there too long will hurt the bottom line and allow the others to increase their fleets and consequently their flexibility.

Interesting figures. Thanks Keg. I want ask you to verify & cross check that info!!
I guess the load factor comparison to last year (DOM) is down because of the increased capacity. Vice-versa with (INTL). WRT available discounted seats, if you offer 25 seats on a 737, but still offer 25 seats on a 763, you haven't reduced the available discounted seats have you? Now, of course, if you showed it as a percentage.... Bluddy bean counters!!
