Warbirds Over Scone is ON
Media Release
The organisers of Macquarie Generation Warbirds Over Scone were quick to point out last night that their airshow would proceed. This is despite the cancellation of the RAAF 80th Anniversary Airshow to be held at Amberley RAAF base on the same weekend.
Preparations are underway to cope with the influx of Airshow fans previously heading to Amberley, including expanded Car parking and a large camping area set up on the Airfield itself to cope with up to 400 people. The Gold Pass/VIP area is also to be expanded to hold more guests.
Warbirds Over Scone is becoming one of the largest events in the Hunter Valley calendar and is a significant Airshow in its own right. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the show which is a non-profit event staffed entirely by volunteers and community organisations such as Lions and Apex.
Commencing on Saturday September 29th with a practise day and continuing on Sunday September 30 with a full Airshow, Warbirds Over Scone 2001 will feature over 50 Vintage and Veteran aircraft, the largest public gathering of Warbirds in Australia for years. Details can be found on the website at www.sconewarbirds.org
------------------
It is our understanding that the RAAF Roulettes will still attend and will close off the show at 4pm on Sunday Afternoon.
There will be a fully licenced bar WITH TV for those of us who choose to follow the more enlightened form of football
Cheers guys - hope to see lots of you here.

Warbirds over Scone just got a mention (just before the 5pm news) on ABC Illawarra (97.5 fm). The reporter also spoke of the RAAF being their for a display pending the U.S. actions or whatever they might get up to.
Fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes, and tongues crossed.
Who else is going the weekend after this (read how much grog am I going to have to shove in the fridge in the campervan)?
Dem thilly fingies at it agin!

Thanks for all the updated info Bendo. The signs over the F3 freeway look good too.
See you round like a ground loop.

For those concerned about the ARL Grand Final, the kick-off isn't until 20:10 on Sunday night. Gives you plenty of time to get back to SY/The motel/the pub!!!
There will also be a TV on in the Public Bar at the show with the AFL Grand Final showing... a;though why you would pay $15 to get into an Airshow and then watch footy is beyond me
Pilots Dinner on Sunday Night; $35 perhead.

BENDO ... you aren't heating up some frozen sausage rolls for that dinner are you ? (read BURNT)
Should a pilot expect a 7 course meal at this function ? Last meal I had in scone was... it consisted of a pie and six beers all consumed in a "Royal Hotel" stubbie holder.
Seriously though.... Wish I could make it, but alas I am rostered to work this weekend. I am grateful however for the info on the REAL football grand final not starting til 2010 EST...which SHOULD get me home in time to watch it.
Hope that everything goes well for the weekend Bendo..and PLEASE post pics on this BB ... would LOVE to see what I am missing out on.
ps.. feel free to post pics of the airshow too.

BSB'n'apache ya slackers! O.K. now who IS actually going? It sounds like it is shaping-up to be a huge weekend! The fam and I will be there from Friday morning onwards, and I have to say now that I had a person interested in a Pprune badge, but s/he hasn't contacted me back about it, so I'll be taking it with me and it will be FOR SALE at the price I paid for it during the course of the airshow.
Now if you want it, all you've got to do is find me! (hint; VH-KPF)
