ATPL AGK
Am churning through Advanced Flight Theory AGK correspondence course gearing up for March cyber sitting. Am keen to get feedback from any who have just sat the Feb AGK sitting. Where did you study, how did you find it, any advice? (keen also to hear from any who did the AFT corres. course)

i've done both the class and self study of Nathan's and have found both to be excellent. If you keep to his notes, know what is in there then you will have no worries.
As for the Feb AGK sorry - can't help you but I'll be interested to know how the cyber exam goes in March.

Is AGK (a/c general knowledge?) another term for the AASA (systems) exam? If so let me know. I sat it last week and studied from NH's correspondance course. I may be able to help(?).

Deckchair,. .'Just did Nathan's January course and sat the four exams (last non-cyber sitting)... all a big blur, but will agree with TwinNBD about the quality of the AFT notes and their focus on what you need to know.. .Results due out next week hopefully I won't have to do any of them again!. .Good Luck

Deckchair,
I assume then the AGK is the systems exam. I think you can contact me via the icon where this reply is written (?). I'm not sure as I don't post here that often.
Anyway, as per the other guys, yes NH's notes are fantastic. Concentrate on anything in bold type, especially, and do every revision test and trial exam under proper exam conditions. Personally, I took notes / summarised the entire thing, then resumarised it into abbrieviated notes, then all the tests / exams. Each to their own. It does take a bloody long time!!
A few questions in the trial exams were similar. Here's a few that I can remember:. .1. That all a/c with powered flight controls have "q" feel;. .2. Climbing at a constant IAS or MN, what happens to IAS, TAS below and / or in the tropopause;. .3. TRU units as well as static inverters, what they do and how;. .4. What happens when RA advisories are inhibited and how are they then shown on the TCAS;. .5. TCAS symbols for the different alerts;. .6. Autothrottle mode when in steady cruise;. .7. What should the captain do if his display goes blank (ie, select from another SG source, etc...). .8. What is the warning given and actions to be taken if the 2 fuel quantity measuring systems disagree?. .9. Hydraulic actators......
I hope that helps. There's nothing I've given that NH doesn't cover well in his correspondance course. He's a top bloke and more than happy to be called for advice or help.
Just as a note, I believe an entire new set of questions have been prepared for the cyber exams, but they can't be too far off those already studied for in the texts. Not 100% sure. Also be prepared to do a bit of lateral thinking in that some questions (can't remember of the top of my head now) require some thought process into how and why, and not just black and white question & answer stuff.
I'm still waiting on my results..... fingers crossed. Don't take this the wrong way but I hope not to see you at the next sitting!! This was my last ATPL to pass! Let me know if I can be of further help.

P.Hendo. Thanks for the added info. Very good of you. I don't post on this forum much either and am unsure how to enable email information. I might put a post up in a couple of weeks to ask how you went. Good luck, this is my last subject as well.
