Look, Let's face it...ANSETT IS FINISHED!
HIH had debts of $4B and is finished!
ONE TEL had debts of $1B or $2B and is
finished!
ANSETT has debts of $2B and is finished!
Unfortunately, those who should know better are using terms like... "we expect to have Ansett planes back in the air soon"...this does not mean that Ansett will be saved. It simply means that some A/C will be sold or leased to other companies, and the name Ansett will then be removed!
Administrators and receivers are devious people seeking their 15 minutes of fame. They play with words, let people down and walk away with big dollars at the expense of everybody else!
The ACTU is also party to this charade!
THEY KNOW THAT ANSETT IS FINISHED!
AND SO SHOULD YOU!

Amos: Just what is the point of your thread? Don't you think that we at AN are all aware of the state of the business, or are you another whose sole aim in life is to exacerbate the existing uncertainty and misery within our workforce? What sort of satisfaction do you and your kind derive from this sort of post?
With an attitude like yours, and others, how are the AN staff, for we are still employees, supposed to keep any hope of resurrection alive, for that is what we are currently about. All we have just now is the hope that the Administrator will be able to glean some semblance of order from the despair that ANZ left behind after abrogating their responsibilities.
Please, if you can't be positive, will you please keep your gloating to yourself, or to others of like mind.
Kind regards,
TheNightOwl.

Heard the same thing. Canadian aircraft on wetlease.
My understanding and correct me if I am wrong is that AN would no longer have an AOC.
QF would not be able to operate in the short term using AN aircraft and crews due to their own company requirements and training as approved by the CASA. You can't just grab an aircraft and crew and say good luck.
If this is the case then all the union calls to use AN aircraft would not be possible.
In the short term what else can they do??

The foreign aircraft was a Cathay Pacific A340-300 used for some domestic uplift, which was operated by 'foreign' pilots.
The lease which (the media reports)Qantas will fall back on if the A320s fall through is of Air Canada 767-300s. These aircraft are already painted in Ansett colours pending a lease (VH-BZ...somethingorother).

Soooo, ‘Bankstown’, let me see if I’ve got this right… Canadian pilots flying an Air Canada 767 painted in AN colours (should that be ‘colors’?)
How will the pax know the difference from the last twelve years?
