Angry Jeppesen Jeppview CD

Posted this in Computer/Internet and only got 1 response. Any other users care to comment?

I have been using the Jeppview CD system for 18 mths now and am quite pleased with the product.(Minor hassles with printing aside).

What DOES annoy me is the delay in getting the CD (issued fortnightly) This is regularly up to 10 days after the issue date and can cause hassles with keeping up to date.
What is the delay for other users? ie The CD is issued/ dated on the Friday...When do you get it?
I suppose this could be one of the problems of living in one of the most remote cities in the world (Perth Aus)!!! but Jeppesen Aus don't seem to be doing much to fix it.

Same here agent and it has nothing to do with the west coast. I even had one instance where I got revision 20 before 19.

We got Disc19 late and Disc 20 within 5 days.
Its taken a couple of months to sought out access codes for our discs.
The local office has been very helpful though. The problem appears to be in the U.S.

NAP,

Cost of my last renewal was $310 aussie pesos. From memory this is about $100 more than the paper subscription but for me it's worth the extra. I carry printed plates for our network destinations plus possible alternates and have drasticly cut back the amount of time I used to spend doing those damn paper ammendments. They also look much nicer in colour!

Unhappy

OK, but when can I carry the lot in flight on a small access computer?

In my job I could end up anywhere at short notice so I need all plates at hand in flight. Ive seen a picture of a laptop setup but never seen one in action. Anyone got any news on this front?

This has got to be the future though, these paper things are getting out of control in weight and volume. What we need is an A5 size computer to replace the flight bag volumes, and for those aircraft with EFIS, a slot to put the same disc. The disc should be compatible with both.

Any opinions?

Have a look at the following link for what your talking about!

Mind you I don't want to imagine how much the portable "In-flight display" costs.

This is what I would like to have.
Northstar fltdeck organiser
I would hate to see the price though.
My laptop just doesn't seem up to it anymore.

Thumbs up

My experience with Jeppview was great. I never had a CD arrive late or in the incorrect order, and enjoyed the ease of printing the charts in colour, once I soughted out the layout.
I can't wait until the cost of the portable laptop unit comes down.
