Cool Refugees and the 89 dispute!

OK! troops, here's a question for you.
What's the common denominator in the current refugee situation and the 89 dispute? ( let's see if you really had your finger on the pulse back in 89 )

Answer: The refugees are better for the long term future of Oz than the imported saviours of 89!. (Although it will take 10 years for the majority to work it out)

Amos, about a week ago, someone that [i]you [/]would describe as a 'hero' fired what seemed to be a shot across my bows on Qrewroom.

He thought I was taking a dig at him on this forum about '89 although I was trying to point out with the use of the inverted commas with the word 'hero' that it isn't my word and I was just pointing out some info to others that use the word.

He missed my point as is wont to happen on a written forum when you can't tell tone as easily as you can when assisted by body language and vocals.

I was pretty interested to think that someone thought I was 'commenting' on the dispute because I've tended to avoid it to this point. Not having been there I'm not fully qualified to make an opinion either way and not having done a thesis on it, don't have the information at hand to make a considered response on the specifics of '89.

I'm a pretty reasonable bloke but this thread is a crock. Normally I wouldn't bother but I'm getting tired of having the past dredged up for not much reason at all.

Don't try and lecture me and warn me of the peril of neglecting the past. I've learnt a lot from this forum about '89- both the positives and negatives- and feel I'm a little wiser for it.

That said though, this thread does you- and the rest of the gang from '89 that chose not to return to the airlines- a dis service. It shows that you can't get on with life and can only see the 'conspiracy' in everything that happens today.

By continuously harping on about it in a non relevant way, you also drag down every other '89er who didn't return to the airlines because they get tainted with the same brush (much in the same way that as an ex Cadet, I get tainted with the same colour as those that went before. Not fair, just reality).

By all means, lets discuss '89 (again) but at least bring it up in a way that doesn't make everyone roll their eyes to the heavens and not bother reading.

Yes you got me to read but you guarantee that I probably won't bother with any thread started by you ever again and when you have lost all your audience, you will be left mumbling to yourself about the 'injustice' of it all.

From the bottom of my heart. Grow up, padlock this thread yourself and contribute constructively!

Woomera, please just lock it, don't delete it. I want to make sure my comments are read!
