Saw your note Woomera.
I am glad to know you have a pride in your ancestry, as you say, on both sides.
I reckon that about sums up most of us.
Casting around the list of threads on your website there, I see there are a wide-ranging number of topics, not all associated with pure aviation. But I suppose it is not all that surprising, that when offered a forum, lots of people like to talk about topical or newsworthy events. The boat people seems to be one at the moment.
The wife and I were invited over to Johnno’s place for the night on Friday. We, Johnno and his wife, Mary and I, always go down in Johhno’s Cessna to Melbourne for the Cup, and we make it an annual holiday for the racing Carnival week down there. So there was just a little planning to do. After tea, Johnno and I had a look at the Pprune website, and saw some of the replies to the last letter I posted there. We had a bit of a laugh at a couple of the replies, but I reckon you pretty much hit the nail on the head there Woomera, although I think you were taking the mickey out of me with reference to Lawson and Banjo there.
Sorry about the bloke who seemed to have missed my point.
We have such a big country with a very small population West of the Great Divide, we bushies tend to blame a lot or all of our national troubles on the city slickers. I tend to take a different view. I reckon we all have a role, and we all have to take our share of blame when it comes to pointing the finger. Often I am the odd man out, here in the outback, except for Johnno, who shares a lot of my views.
You made a reference to being sixth generation Australian. I am fourth, but my granddaughter is obviously sixth.
Never ceases to amaze me how short time really is. My great-grandmother was just 2 when she arrived in Melbourne in 1841. A hundred and sixty years ago. It was my grandfather who set off up here in the late 1800’s. So we have been around for a while.
All the best mate.

Hey TT. Apinun wantok. I remember one intrepid aviator from the land of Wantoks who could scratch his ankles without bending over. And he was an expat! (Not you OzExpat!)
Yes, Spud, even before 89 BC!
