AWAS 737's to NZ for QF
Tomorrow's Australian will advertise for 737-300 Pilot's to fly AWAS a/c in NZ on behalf of Qantas (contract basis). Looks like the Kiwis will get their chance to fly these as Ansett management are rumoured to have insisted AN 737 Pilots must resign from Ansett if they wish to fly these services! If true, this is a very selfish attitude as there seems no light on the horizon for this group of Pilots.

Does seem very odd indeed.
With the world flooded with pilots at the moment someone will fill these positions - it may just as well be potentially unemployed ansett boeing pilots.
Rumour has it that the same applies for the 767 positions despite the fact that the FA's have been allowed to go on LOA.

There are of course two sides to anything like this, you say the "potentially unemployed Ansett Boeing Pilots" should get the work, but what of the Pilots that normally do the wet lease work for AWAS?
Then these Pilots will definitely be unemployed?

I didn't realise Ansett had any management at the moment, only administrators.
Is there some reason why Kiwis should be excluded from flying any aircraft operating in their own country, carrying their own countrymen around, or do the AN pilots feel they have some moral right to any flying that is going? I would have thought any operation QF gets going in NZ would have some sort of longevity to it and that they would be better off looking for people that would be keen to stay there.
