QF 73H's in OZ
I believe some Qantas 738's should be gracing our skies in the next day or two, and just curious if any PPRuNers out there have a website or link to any snap shots of these machines. Airliners.net haven't got any up just yet.
And is there any truth in the runour that VXB is in a Wunala/Nalanji scheme?

If you are around YBBN tomorrow morning (Sat 2nd)it is rumoured that when the big hand is on the 6 and the little hand is just past the 7 you may see VXA!. .And Voodoo Guru,there seems to be a lot of truth in the rumour about VXB.. .

I think you will find that VXA will arrive at gate 30 BNE domestic (direct from O/S) and be customs and quarantine cleared there, then go directly into service. Is that some kind of A/C scheduler's dream of instant utilisation.

Domestic, the Boeing 737-838s are fitted with winglets, VH-VXA is now adorned with them. The first few aircraft are having them fitted post production.. .Otherwise a normal Qantas aircraft, with revised 'Spirit of Australia' titling and what looks like leather in economy!

VH-VXA was originally scheduled to arrive in Sydney last Thursday night, around 6.30pm, and to be parked outside M167 on the base. Two days of cabin crew training, along with other evaluations were to take place, CASA etc., and then it was due to be repositioned to BNE today Saturday, 1st.
The aircraft was then further delayed.
It is true about the Wunala scheme...not sure if it is VXB though. My understanding is that it is one of the later aircraft ( cannot vouch for which one ). Saw the graphics for it on Tuesday. Predominately browns and ochres with large black goannas.

Speaking of the Wunala livery, back in 1994 (?) when Qantas rolled out OJB in the Wunala scheme, I can recall them saying that the aircraft would remain in those colours until its next major overhaul in 2001. Did they re-paint OJB in the Wunala livery last year?
VH-VXA arrived in Brisbane today and I am assured by those who were there that she carries a name - "Broome".. .Nice to see that this noble tradition survives after all. Hopefully this expression of pride will soon sweep through the un-named aeroplanes in the Qantas fleet like a ... well like a new Broome.. .Well done Qantas!

Acutally Buckshot, OJB was only supposed to be in those colours for a couple of years but it has been so successful that they've retained the colour scheme!!
Apparently (although I haven't been able to check) it gets cleaned on the outside a bit more often then our other aircraft too!

Hey Fris that's great news re "Broome". I couldn't believe it when bloody propeller tie ditched all that proud history and named our newest 76 "Unity", can't even remember what the other one got called, something as equally bad.

Qantas came up with some beautiful names for their aircraft in years past, particularly during the 1950s, with the likes of "Southern Aurora", "Southern Moon" & "Southern Sky". . .Would be a treat to see names such as these return to grace the fleet once again.

Yes it would be nice to see those lovely Connie names again but a return to traditional "City" names is a good start.

Jack & Fris B. .In addition to 767-300's 'Partnership' & 'Unity' . .VH-OGN & VH-OGO respectively, they also had a 737-400 called 'Sharing' VH-TJW instead of the usual native birds. That may be why Ozzie Ostrich didn't get a look in! <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

I suppose QF will keep the 744 VH-OJC in the Formula One livery 'City of Melbourne' for as long as the F1GP remains there. A tidy vehichle to ferry GP CEO Ron Edwards in LON/MEL.
Wonder what they'll call the next aircraft off the production line? In light of current load factors, perhaps 'Monopoly' <img src="eek.gif" border="0"> <img src="eek.gif" border="0">

I think I'm right in saying that there is currently no 'City of Sydney' in the Qantas fleet as OJB was re-named 'Wunala Dreaming'.
In addition to the 'Unity' and 'Partnership' 767s and the 'Sharing' 737, there are also TJX 'Trust' and TJY 'Integrity' which break the Australian birds sequence.
