Post Manager AND pilot?

A query to anyone who can provide me with some insight, please. Am I alone in my puzzlement about how the recently-appointed Acting General Manager of Aeropelican can also be flying Monday and Friday with KD? Surely a hand in the pay packets of management as well as pilots must be to the detriment of other Metro captains who are managing to achieve two days/week on a daily pay rate? I don't wish to denigrate anyone, but is it ethical to manage one airline while flying for another?. .Enlightenment, anyone please.. .
