Post QF International Changes

ABC Radio reported this morning that QF will stop flying to BKK shortly, seem to recall someone from QF saying the flights currently operating via BKK will be re-routed via SIN to allow better hubbing opportunities to/from Australian ports and other QF International flights.b Also QF website reports that direct MEL - NRT will be re-instated from July this year.. .Frequency will be daily - northbound non-stop on 4 days, and via Sydney on 3 days a week. Southbound services will run 7 days a week non-stop NRT - MEL. MEL - NRT non-stop will go to 7 days a weeks as soon as demand builds up. Aircraft to be used 767-300.

Kuldali,. .. .QF 1 & 2 (400 to/from London) will still operate through BKK. The Frankfurt and Rome services are moving to Sing.. .. .The 400 is also taking over the 300's share of the FRA flights.

Question

Do I interpret this as MEL having 2 QF flights to Singapore daily within 2 hours of each other? And return?

It appears that the SCL flights will be a QF 744 to AKL with a plane change at AKL to a LA 343. A bit like what AN did with AR a few years back.

When I read this topic I was hoping that it was about QF introducing inflight entertainment to all seats like the rest of the developed world, and hiring some of those nice little chiccy babes that VB seem to have an eye for.. .But no. It just means that there will be fewer tables available at Fatties now when on those Singapore layovers. Bummer.. .

Do not despair! In Flight Entertainment in all seats of the Qantas 747-400 fleet is in progress. A couple already complete and the rest to follow.

yes but how long does it take!! This has been going for about 4 years and remember it is not in the Int 767's. . .. .I assume the new A330's will have the latest inflight entertainment systems - including PTV's does anyone know?

Question

noidea, there seems to be some discussion about whether the A330s will be domestic or international aircraft. There aren't many bays around that can take them.. .. .If the point of view that they are purely domestic aircraft is correct then they will NOT have the in seat entertainment!. .. .But who knows. I bet QF isn't sure what to do with them yet!!

Heard a rumour that the A330 were on the way out, and 777 was on the way in( Boeing buy back ala SQ ). Same source also stated that QF were sniffing around BA to consider taking their A market version of the 777 for Australian Airlines.. .This bloke also is related to the refueler at Wagga, so it must be good gen!. .Don

Unhappy

Wish it were true don but the Captain and F/O slots for the A330 were advertised at the end of last week- about 25 of each I think initially.. .. .That rumour about the 777s has been going around since not long after Sep 11 but nothing further has been heard apart from the bit you mention.

From looking at QF current schedule the following changes will take place from next month:. .*QF 15/16 will no longer depart MEL. Rather the service is now BNE to SIN and then on to Rome.. .*QF 9/10 remains the only MEL to SIN service for QF.. .*QF 1/2 from SYD will be the only flight through BKK.. .. .Melbourne will not have an extra service to Singapore, it has lost one flight a day. In fact if you look up the schedule from MEL - BKK it will list a QF flight via SYD, or direct THAI flights. I hope that this does not turn into another San Fransisco for QF, where they pulled out and another carrier was rewarded. QF seem to be making SIN into a bit of a hub for the European bound flights.
