Post Virgin Blue A320/321

Heard in HKG that Virgin Atlantic want to place an A320 or A321 with Virgin Blue during the Northern winter.

Pilots and LAME's from the U.K would come with the aircraft.

Is this the same guy in Hong Kong that said VB would be out of business by now? (makes mental note to ask my mate in Tahiti about the future prospects of Aeroflot)

It would be nice to place the A320/21's left from VS (Sun and Atlantic) down in Oz, instead of parking the five aircraft at Filton un UK. I believe it was discussed but is a no go because of the unions in OZ, even a short term deployment would help both VB and VS.

There has been talk by DJ bringing in Virgin Atlantic a/c for 3 months or so. The B744 and the A340 has been mentioned for a east coast to PER service.

I understand the planned trade off was DJ B737's going to the UK next year during their summer and our winter.

A few weeks ago National Jet in ADL were asked by Virgin Blue if they could provide push back for an a/c larger than the B737.

The B744 and the A340 would not be viable at ADL so the enquiry may have been for the A320/321.

A pushback from where Skyhawk? VB don't have access to the domestic terminal in ADL and I doubt the gates at 52 and 52A would require that an A320 be pushed back instead of powered out as is done with the 737.

Alright...enough fisty cuffs. skyhawk, were you perhaps referring to a request by VB for FUTURE assistance in pushing back an aircraft larger than the 737? I haven't heard anything for some time now about "ring in" airplanes at VB. There was talk of short term leased 757's but that has been quiet for more than a month now. Even so VB just don't have gate space at ADL that requires a push back and won't until the new terminal is built. Then the idea is that they will use the "old" gates now used by QF and AN. AND as I understand it when that happens the tarmac arrangements will be such that pushbacks will not be required.

No offence to anyone intended here.

I was led to believe that work wouldn't start until next year and it would take a year to complete. This wasn't right from the horses mouth but from someone who would be pretty close to the horse. Mind you this might have changed with AN not at its former glory.

ADL's new terminal is now uncertain due to AN's collapse. As I understand it, both QF and AN guaranteed leases for the terminal.

From what I heard at AAL, if a new AN does not get off the ground, they want to redesign the terminal removing the AN end, if that makes any sense. DJ still plans to use QF's current domestic terminal once the new facility is up and running.

All that said, after arriving at ADL on Sat I noticed a number of fences going up around what will be the new terminal site along with portable contrction site offices. So maybe work will start???

With a new coat of paint (which AN obviously coudn't afford) and a fair amount of work to get it flying without a tonne of deffered AD's I'd say CZQ is looking a lot better than she has in ages. To bad the rest of the 737's weren't worth messing with.

Spruce, if CZQ is in that bad a shape the blame lies with British Midland not Ansett, they only got it a few months ago, with a fresh coat of paint as well....
