Wink

Just the PER run, I think.

As for non standard equipment, does anyone know of any other airline that ordered the small forward cargo doors on the 767's? Dare I mention the engineers post!! Geez, where did AN go wrong???

Assuming the availability of ADL and KGI as adequate airports, there are no ETOPS routes in the Ansett system.

Okie,

True, but ADL and KGI are often not available as adequate airports, especially during the winter months. Both are prone to be below minima because of fog.

FRT must then be available or a northerly route flown. There are ways around it. ADL is very seldomly not adequate; the prime hours of fog development in KGI are outside the normal hours that it would be required. It has not been a major problem if at all.

Cool

Okie,. .Have you ever looked at what weight you can land with F15 (i.e. one engine inop)in FRT?. .You might get a bit of a shock!. .FRT is not really an option on one donk.. .

I haven't read the entire three pages on this subject, and it may already have been said, but it doesn't/wouldn't surprise me that nobody has thought of this before. That would be the last thing that managers would think of.

The AN/KD CRJs are a good example. Cat D aircraft that couldn't, or at least shouldn't have, go/gone to some of their destinations.

Apparently they did a deal with CASA to make it a CAt C when required by operating in the circling area at one stage of flap. Something that most of us would have thought illegal.

Kapt X

I know this is a rumour network and that is all that you have supplied with your previous post.

The CRJ was only ever operated to Cat D mimimums and speeds and believe me there were absolutely no concessions from CASA. In fact due to the relative lack of jet experience the aircraft generally wasn't operated to published circling minimums, unless there was no straight in approach available, until about 2 months before the operation was shut down.

NightOwl, yes - 2 x FMGC and all other kit the same as the A320. I don't think the issue is weight saving (certainly the IAE engines are already artificially derated (chipped?) on installation and it still goes up like a homesick angel). The saving is in cost; if your routes don't require HF comms (as is the case in most of Europe) then why pay for the kit. And with GPS fitted, the single ADF is just belt & braces.

Cheers. .SD
