Post China Southern Airlines or Singapore Flying College?

Have heard rumours that China Southern Airlines is a really good place to work. . .However, other opinions have stated that Singapore Flying College is better to work at.. .. .Your opinions would be helpful. I would gladly accept a job with either, but just for interest sake am interested to get some feedback.. .. .PS. Does anyone have a web site address for Singapore Flying College.

I can only confirm as fact that there have been MANY instructors move from CS to SFC but none move in the other direction.. .. .Draw your own conclusions. . .. .SFC does offer discount air fares to staff, albeit subload.

You may get a look in with a senior grade 3 rating at China Southern, but more likely you'd need a grade 2. At Singapore you definitely need grade 2 and I.F.R teaching approval to be even considered. Thats because half the flights you do are IFR. Yes everyone goes from China Southern to Singapore not Vice versa, good luck, build some experience and you might get a look in.

Cool

If i'm wrong I stand to be corrected...... .. .I have a few friends at SFCL and I'm fairly certain they don't have IFR teaching approval. And I am positive that they didn't have it when they were first employed

That is correct, IFR training approval is not required at commencement.

Some of the boys do agree that SFC is a better place to work than China Southern. . .The web site is www.sfcpl.com where you can find out the basics about the company. . .We do receive a 75% discount off the full economy fare once a year . .A couple of pilots came through recently for interviews and check flight, so I assume the company will put on at least 1 more instructor soon. . . As for getting on the Barons, future employees have been told to expect a 2 year wait.. .The hours are pretty good, and so to are the students.

China sothern will probably send you to Merriden first about 3 hours drive west of Perth. After about 18 months you may get amove to Jandakot. conditions with China are good but SA are definatly better. Huge turnover of instructors at csa.

It's not their spelling which is generally the problem. It's more often their poor use of punctuation. .. .
quote:
What is it with pilot's and spelling? . .

. . . . [ 29 March 2002, 01:44: Message edited by: Islander Jock ]

Wink

I suppose "Merriden" would be a good place to get a float plane endorsement. . .. .Merredin, in the wheat belt, is not a bad little town. A bit too quiet for my liking. However if you want to knuckle down and get some hours, it would be ideal.
