Bathurst Island Footy Day
I'm surprised that there are no thread abotu this yet.. .How did everyone else find the day.. .I thought it went quite well, I never had any conflictions, didnt have to extend downwind at all (last year it was like 'overhead garden point, turning base'). All the pilots were really good to each other and i didn't hear any nasty words on the radios, so good job everyone involed. Of course i wont forget our friends in Darwin ATC and I never had any problems, so good on ya guys and girls in the tower and approach room, i think you did a great job!

I found it a bit hard to track to Lee Point at the request of ATC when I could not see it - especially when 20 miles out - at NIGHT !!!! . .. .Also whilst 15 miles out at night I was instructed by ATC to descend to 1000 (this would have put me below my LSALT). . .. .I understand the radar LSALT is about 1600.. .. .Other than that, all went very smooth and ATC did a great job !!!!!

Thanks for the positive posts regarding ATC. I would like to thank all the aircrew for making our job a lot easier than it could have been. If you guys have any suggestions on how we can improve this event (the procedures for DN-BTI-DN flights) please let us know. Again, thanks for your patience and cooperation.. .. .NFR. (edited for shocking spelling!). . . . [ 27 March 2002, 07:09: Message edited by: No Further Requirements ]

To NO FURTHER REQUIREMENT, mate, ATC in Darwin is great. I'ved always had the utmost cooperation and facilitation from you guys, either bin or out at night to Dili or the East. You not only know your jobs but I can remember being processed at night during a military exercise in the region with unbelievable traffic levels yet the whole show was extremely well managed and inconvenienced no-one, even though you were busier than a Kabul Bricklayer. I complimented you on the radio that night (last year ) and I again recognise and rspect the professionalism in Darwin ATC, thanks.
