Hear it on Ten news last night as well. Funny how this and the Ansett anouncement comes out 2 days before the election. I thought that news like this was still at least still 2 weeks away. If this is true, it could be a very good thing. So long as he has some vision, and a good sized cheque, and wants to kick some possible goals with in the coming months...

Now a 2nd bid for Skywest:
CANBERRA (Dow Jones)--A Western Australian-based consortium likely will formally lodge a bid Monday for Skywest, a regional division of collapsed airline Ansett, a source familiar with the planned bid said Friday.
Further details of the bid weren't immediately available from the source, who also declined to be named.
The likely bid will compete with one from prominent local businessman Kerry Stokes, whose bid for Skywest was welcomed Friday afternoon by Transport Minister John Anderson.
Stokes' bid was lodged overnight with Ansett's administrators, for an undisclosed sum. It includes the assumptions of all liabilities and the purchase of Skywest's fleet of aircraft based in Perth, the capital of the state of Western Australia.
Stokes, whose investment vehicle is Australian Capital Equity, is chairman of Australian commercial broadcaster Seven Network Ltd. (A.SNW).
