Ramrod you are right on the money.
QANTAS is so impressed with this orginisation over and above NJS,Southern,Sunstate, that he has gone out and brought them even newer shiny new jets to operate.
They has approached the Pilot union and they have agreed, for one that these fantastic bunch of pilot's, be given an exemption from going through the Qantas system of testing and also if you don't have HCS thats OK also.
Secondly, they can bypass all F/O's and S/O's who were interested in the upgrade to Capt and F/O,the union got a unanomus vote on that one,and there will be no bypass pay provisions.
DREAM'N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another first of type operation into Australia. GM's done it before so maybe Qantas thinks he can do it again. I can hear the wind up, who's going to put the fuel in?
Time to change the blades.

How will this affect the 717s??? Will they stay (and maybe increase in number) or go?
How many of the 738s will go to Impulse. Arguably as they will all be 1-class planes they could all go to Impulse...

Is this the arrival of "Australian Airlines"?
I heard that "Australian" was going to operate 738's 18 months ago but the common rumour then was 763's. Maybe my QF source was right!
Time will tell all. Hold on it could get bumpy!!!

Geez you Impulse guys get excitable..
The 15 738's on order are going straight to QF mainline. As far as the others on option go, the plan for them is the same.
'course, Gerry may spring for some for you guys out of the goodness of his own heart, but.....
And unless 738's can carry 230 passengers SYD-Tahiti, I doubt very much they will be going to AA either.

I did ask the question fact or fiction? This rumour is not only coming from within Impulse, but from Qantas staff as well.
So have any of the Qantas main-line staff got course dates yet for the 737-800?

SeaEagle I have heard the same news. GM and his "Impulse/ACC" outfit will be the providers of the a/c, crews etc for Australian Airlines. I would still put my money on the B763's for Asian ports like Japan, Malaysia and Korea as 9 hrs is a bit far in the 738's.
Be careful out there.

Not sure if this is correct - but don't Qantas staff have an agreement with management whereby no other Qantas subsidiary may operate same type of aircraft as mainline ops? Regionals limited to aircraft of no more than 100 seats?

Hey guys read the thread "Qantas Regional management appointments", it's starting to happen. Qantas has big plans for Impulse and there are still more announcements to come.
There will be more jets for Impulse, trust me!

Qantas have just announced internally that the first of 90 QANTAS MAINLINE crews leave for Seattle on Monday for 737-800 differences training. There goes your rumour . . .

Ramrod, calm down, take your blood pressure pills, and put the 737 manual away, you are emabarking on the " you may have a red tail, but you have nothing to do with us " ride.
Ask the NJS guys and gals who have been on that ride for 10 years now.
But look on the bright side, you used to have a blue tail.

Amazing IMP has gone from failed Airline status to failing contract status, to now flying 737's!why not move straight up to the A380 and be done with it. Bevan in charge, could mean that dear ol Gerry's not travelling too well, look at the figures, and not the inflated ones due AN's failure.
