As I mentioned, if you want to get out the back doors, put the flaps up if you can!

Ummm, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned NOT doing a backstick check (206/7) when she's just a tad full, engine running. Could be somewhat embarassing, if one catches my drift..... Not that I'd know, mind you.

429CJ. .. .Funny you should mention that coz I was about to relate a similar experience that I heard of around about the traps, you don't even need to avoid the backstick thingy just poke the brakes a bit too hard to stop at the holding and the rebound off the oleo causes mucho embarassmento......... . .. .Same principle I believe as a too hard dab on the brakes whilst backing a certain turboprop. Like you, not that I'd know, mind you.. .. .As the man at the circus says.."kiddies......please don't try this stunt at home". . . . [ 22 March 2002, 13:37: Message edited by: gaunty ]

TIPS YOU ASKED FOR : . .1) When it is a hot day or she has been working and the engine is hot open the oil hatch on the cowl to let the hot air around the engine to get out. Helps cool down the engine and the fuel injection pipes. Ensure that the cowl flaps are open. Face it into wind if at all possible.. .2) On the Utility model (U206) remember that the double doors must be closed properly to complete the circuit to let the flaps go up and down. If you take the rear doors off you need a plate screwed in place to depress the circuit button to allow the flaps to go up and down.. .3) Know the W&B by loading it up and knowing how much you can put and where. . .4) Coming in to land empty two stages of flap c/w a lot of back trim and a touch of power will assist a nice mains first landing.. .5) Do check the oil cooler regularly as they have a tendency to crack and leak. You can fly with a minor crack but not a big loss of oil. . .6) The wheels make excellent seats under the shady wings in hot sunshine.. .7) A plastic crate makes an excellent carry-all in the baggage compartment as well as a step to help get up to the top of the cowl to put oil in and to get access to the wing fuel caps. . .8) Mark the leading edge with a texta to know where the fuel caps are. . .9) Give those wings a good rocking to move any water in the fuel bag tanks down to the fuel drain point. . .10) With top cowl off check that the fuel controller pressure line that goes back through the baffel has a grommett around it. If it wears away and is not replaced a fuel line leak and engine compartment fire can result.. .11) A strip of 100 mph tape is good value to hold down the oil filler hatch when the catch goes u/s. . .12) Remove the tow bar immediately after you use it to move the a/c around. Props are expensive. Enough said!

See you thought the reason that neanderthal browed C206 drivers with Orang U Tang like arms, had become like that because of the areas in which they work.

That, in itself, would be part of the "evolution" of the GA driver. . .. .Other things like the calouses on the forehead (from banging one's head against a wall) come later...... . .. .gaunty, the t'prop you mention, would that be the big daddy to the one with around ten seats on average? Or perhaps one from the other stable?

I loved the 206! However...... .. .Found they were 'pitchy' when heavily loaded.. .. .If you can get the BIG tyres for it when operating out wet strips. You can just about go anywhere in it.. .. .Beware the swapping of tanks at low alt.

Some of the best tips I have ever read on the mighty 206, however it is hardly a 182 on steroids, that is belittling the 206 big time. The 182 is a 172 on steroids, the 206 is in a class of its own.

Roundandroundenkopf. .. .I know what you mean, but just for the record the C206 did come from the C182, it started as a stretch. . .Both legends in the bush.

How could you even compare a 182 to a slug 172......Philistine The best thing you could do to a C172 is remove the back seat.

C210: If the baggage door comes open in flight, selecting flap 20-30 will close it for you.

Like all those fuel injected lighties, if you need to hand swing it, wait about 40 minutes.. . That saves about 40 minutes of hand swinging before it starts.
