Exclamation Glider Towing & Big jets

Does Glider towing in a tail wheel Bellanca help much with handling big jets, especially on those HEAVY conditions where you need that little extra rudder happening !!

This must be a windup!
There is just no way that you go from towing sailplanes to flying Boeings or those bus things.
So help me do we really have to have this sort of c-r-a-p on Pprune or for that matter this mentality of person?
Surely Pprune can be used for a more meaningful discussion than that sort of nonsense.

I blundered in here thinking this was a bout a 747 towing a glider around or some goss about how someone got a 737 for a tug at the local gliding field....I guess I'll just wander off now.........

Elevator.....was allowed a little bit of play time by Mrs nasa, so took advantage of it. Most of the time I have to do this on the run otherwise she may think I'm enjoying myself and find something more constructive (or destructive) for me to do.....

I don't see what the original post was trying to achieve but CurtissJenny - "I Did!"
I still only fly Pawnees or 747s! [or Gliders of course!]

Well,,Well,, Curtis Jenny . Maybe you're not lucky enough or shall we say not clever enough to be able to acheive a position in a HEAVY straight from a fun tailwheel. Just like TankEngine there are lot of us here who are doing this in real life and having the best fun too.

I've never heard of anyone going from a fun tail wheel straight to a heavy.I've heard of it the other way round though.

Hey come on Curtiss lightenup

Surely skills learnt in the piper cub would assist a heavy pilot who finds himself hot and high.. Full right stick with opposite rudder always worked for me!

Yeah, then test his gliding skills as all engines flame out in the side slip

And the kickout at the last moment with the right flare speed.

By the way, Curtis !! did you hear yesterdays news about the A330 that lost all of it's thrusters and glided in safely. Lucky !! they had gliding skills or they do now. Most of the people I get to tow in my Bellanca are HEAVY pilots who love flying the gliders. We call it "THE REAL FLYING".

After All, Gliders invented it !!

Boy I love the correspondence.

Have towed in excess of 3,000 sailplanes, have gliding experience, have more than 20 tailwheel types in my log books and yes I have Boeing time.
I still say that you do not go from being JUST a towplane pilot to driving a heavy.
And yes, tailwheels are fun aeroplanes.
