You must be yoking RPT,
Ze whole benefit of ze crross crrew qufalification, iz to be aaable to qufickly rreetrain ze pilots.
Zis cannot be done uzing ze A300 (alzough mein geliebte Lufthansa flies zem). Zerefore, it vould be most advantageous to uze ze A330 alzough it is a little bit heavier.
Still, your numbers are zehr gut!
Auf wiedersehn.

I think they would go the A330, if they desired a larger type aircraft, but if they ever intended to use it for international flying in the future, they'd be wasting their time! CX run the A330 MEL-HKG some days & it's got weight restrictions like you wouldn't believe! If international was on the agenda, then might I suggest the A340.

The A330s that CX flies are the -300 variety, and they're probably the low MTOW version, as they're primarily used on regional routes.
It has a range of 10,370km according to Airbus - 233,000kg MTOW.
The A330-200 has a range of 12,300km, with the 233,000kg MTOW.
So theoretically, at the right specs, no problems whatsoever for MEL-HKG, but CX's specs are probably different.
Cheers,
Justin

Sorry Albatross but I think you live in the dark ages.
Ansett is only flying A320's and I think that that is how it is going to stay for now
In the future if Singapore has any say in the future of Ansett you will find more Airbus types with an Ansett tail on them.
Things change espiacially in the world we live in at the moment.
We have to change also or get left behind. :o

Well it would make great sense to have a common type. Should have been done along time a go... I bet there would be some very good and cheap leasings available around the world at the moment. great if it comes off. Good luck.

I think that there would not be a lot of room for manovering the A330-300 around domestic terminal space.
As I understand it it would be a common endorsement for pilots for the A318, A320, A321 similar to the endorsement that QF have for the 737's. I was not considering that AN future operations would be an International operation extending beyond Denpassar and/or New Zealand. That is why I suggest the A300-600R. Some charter operators overseas load 400 plus pax in a single class A330-300, but could not see that being done here as the turn around time would be too great in Domestic operations, after all you still need to get 3000 hrs Flying or more per Aircraft per annum.
