Was just watching the Ten late news here in Melbourne, and lovely Anne broke in with some late news, More than 4500 Ansett Staff will have their redundancy in their bank accounts at midnight tonight.
Well, I'm actually going to sit up for this, it's almost like Christmas...**** eh, it is

A welcome news story Yay.

Cheers to all, and Merry Fat Fella

Last late breaking news I heard was OJ was 'not guilty'.

I now don't believe anything until I see it with my own eyes.

However here's hoping.

And that pretty well explains why I'm sitting up for this one, as I, too, will believe it when I see it, but gee, it was a nice few minutes there...

Likewise, here's hoping
Cheers

Acually, latest evidence links OJ's Son to the murders, which actually explains alot - namely why they couldn't convict OJ himself, and why he was also at the crime scene but wouldn't admit it. He was covering up for his Son, which of course is not the right thing to do, but they are the circumstances that O.J. himself will have to live with. It's been one huge fall from fame, which is not alot unlike what has happened to me (he, he).

Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone - Muslims and all! All the best for the New Year, and may it be better than the present (hopefully!).

Question

They are also reporting on the news this morning, that you have all now been paid, is that true?

Certainly hope so finally.

Good luck to all of you, and Merry Christmas, as much as possible.....

Best regards,

"lame"

Now they are saying about 4000 workers WERE paid overnight, another about 800 by the end of the week?

(QUOTE)

Ansett entitlements paid to workers

Ansett's administrators are confident of paying out the entitlements of almost 5,000 workers who opted for redundancy when the airline collapsed last September.

About 4,000 workers have been paid their entitlements overnight and it is expected another 800 will be paid out by the end of the week.

Administrator Mark Mentha says Ansett's new owners will now decide how many of the remaining employees will be offered jobs, with the remainder to be paid redundancy packages next year.

He says it was always hoped the money would be handed over before Christmas as some workers had been without payment for up to 12 weeks.

"We would've preferred these payments to have been made a month ago but just the difficulty, in terms of the sheer size of the redundancy programs being undertaken at Ansett and difficulties in negotiation that have prevailed and the complexity of the Federal Government scheme and getting it through the Federal Court has certainly made life difficult, but we're very pleased that the money started flowing yesterday," Mr Mentha said.

Sly'n Smiley,
I think you will find that the payments were processed by the pay office overnight. However interbank settlements occur at 10am and 2pm each day and that is when the money will appear in accounts. So check sometime after 10am and 2 pm.

Not a bad idea to get a handle on exactly how the banking system works. Can be an advantage to have some understanding of it.
