400 Pilots in the next 12 months is certainly good news. Does anyone know how many are currently "under active consideration" and how long it may take them to get through this list?? Any info greatly appreciated

Question

Is it true that the sim ride is now on the Classic? Guess the 744 sims are a bit busy now, plus with the SPs gone and the -200s going, the Classic sims are not being used as much.. .. .400 in the next 12 months? How many pilots in Oz? That number minus 400, hmmmm, that's a lot I am going to have to get rid of. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Back to the Top. .. .Is a Course every 3 weeks still the go?. .Have heard rumours of Cadet courses about to finish which will slow the D/E input for a little while(heard of at least 30 cadets possibly to commence 744 training as they are not running 767 courses for S/O's at this stage). Can anyone assist with info of when they will start and obviously when D/E courses will commence again ?. .. .p.s. please do not turn my comments into cadet bashing I am mearly seeking info on possible courses, not cadet bashing comments

I'm guessing that the new starts will be a mix of cadets and direct entry, not cadets only. I've heard of atleast 1 d/e starting very soon (aside from ansett guys and gals).

Had a mate who recently got the call up for a course. Did all 3 stages prior to May last year, then was offered CP job where he was in late Jan this year, rang QF to update his details and let them know of the promotion, and about a week later was invited to Sydney for the medical. A few weeks later he started (with not much notice from QF). . .The news is that there are 8 on his course - 6 ex-AN, 1 Kendall, 1 Sunstate and himself (God bless the piston drivers!).. .Good luck to all who are waiting.

Guys, rest assured that there are still pilots from general aviation being accepted into QF. On a course that started in mid Feb was an ex-G.A pilot, along with 10 ex Ansett/Kendell drivers & 1 ex-RAAF. Not entirely encouraging, but certainly proof that there are still G.A. guys getting through testing and into the system.

I also know of several guys from G.A who have been called up for testing recently, some within a few weeks of sending in their inital application. I know that this is not necessarily what the guys who are concerned about 'active consideration' might want to hear, but I hope that it provides some glimmer of hope for all of the guys out there building up there hours in the hope of getting an interview in the not too distant future....Cheers.

Just to add a little more mystery to the situation, I completed three stages about a year ago, where I was told that succesful applicants will be selected for a medical once a position was available for them (ie they have a slot on a de course for you). The reason given was to reduce the amount of guys who had medicals and never got jobs. I was called for a medical three months ago and told not to be out of touch for the next few days. I didn't hear anything for three weeks, called and was told I would be contacted in due course. As far as I can tell (and I have made many inquiries) all my ref checks went well, background is good and med is ok. Beats me how this system works I just keep updating. Seems every second person you talk to has a different idea on how it all works, and all the others have stories which contradict everything you have heard. My advice to anyone who cares, active consideration is not a bad thing, (better than a knockback) and get on with your life. Waiting around for the phone to ring is hard yakka.

Smile

groob - you sound as though you are in the right place in the queue.

I have been told that QF are keeping around 200 pilots in their 'hold' file, the majority of which have NOT been called up for medicals.

What is occuring is that they seem to be taking the 'best' applicant, so these new guys and gals are leapfrogging those already on hold. It also appears, though, that there is some sort of mixture formula on each course i.e so many Ansett pilots, so many military, GA, etc.

Good luck.
