Post Breakthough!!! KD/AN now to include Agents in the loop!

Well thank God.

I have just been emailed by my wontok Chrissy from AN that Travel Agents are to be included and able to receive commission from AN bookings via the administrators.

NOW - we will see the lights go back on and we can help rebiuld our old mate. Look out Ansett - 60,000 odd professionals are about to swing into immediate action behind you to get our friends jobs back.

Light the wick in the engine Henry - we are on a roll.

All we need now to make it really roll is to have the training wheels removed and Merlin switched back on to agents so we can book through our systems and the fight is on.

Aussie Travel Agents will hose down the ineptitude of the Shame of the Pacific and SQ with support.

Lock and load guys - the good guys are back - and boy - are we pissed off!!

Good news all round.

Next step is to restore public confidence in AN/KD. Helps if you have travel staff able to SELL tickets (for commission), not just watch with frustration.

Wish An mk11 was listed because it,s now a buy.Still a long way to go but you can just feel how it,s heading from here.Perfect result would be a major buyer with a percentage staff shareholding and yes look out QF - Hard to envisage from here but I think it,s coming.

EWL, I said that the Administrators were trying to organize something along those lines. Unfortunately it didn't happen at the start, but better late than never.

Go for it EWL, we're counting on you guys to get 'em to us, I promise we'll give 'em the best flights we can. It'll take time but I'm starting to see a little speck of light at the end of the tunnel.

So, any idea as to when Merlin is going to be switched on to the world?

Cheers,

AN guys and girls - We are ready to lock and load - and watch the forward booking roar through the roof.

God I hope they hurry - and use their brains.

There was precious little brain involved in the previous upper management.

I have my shelf of AN aircraft still on display - the AN window is still there - and the covering poster will come off the AN holidays board the second the lights are switched back on.

Go you good thing!!

Way to go EWL, but I"M woried about all those "odd" travel agents, wouldn;t more normal ones suffice

lets all hope AN can get up and running again, get as many of the staff back in their jobs and the tourism and travell/hospitality industries rocking again.

EWL,

Which agent res system are you using? I assume it's not Merlin direct - Galileo, Amadeus or Sabre? The last time I did the sums, the airline had to pay around A$17.50 for each return booking from one of these GDS, and that's before agent commissions and overrides.

It's good to see you back in the market; I hope you can understand why it took a little while.

Cheers

32 bits - We use Sabre - and there is a temporary way around the USD3.50 to $4.00 charge per segment. If one goes into Merlin and makes the booking there and doesnt upload the booking into Sabre - Gal - whatever - hand write the ticket - no charge.

I personally would be more than pleased to do this until our mate is back on her feet and trading profitably.

Trust the loco to know how to get around systems!! Give me the name and flight number of any passenger anywhere in the world - and I can bump them!! 26 years teaches you how to teach the teachers!!

Come on Andersens - we can all do this for the time being - and no CRS charges. Dont advise the GDS people - just reopen. Lets rock and roll!!!

I was out having a smoke today when the SF340 went past. Did you know that the crews are buying snacks themselves for the passengers at the MEL and DPO kiosks??

God love them - they deserve every bit of support we can muster. Andersens - let us in!!! We can bloody do it!!!

Talking

Let's hope no-one from GDS land is reading this one! Though if they haven't blocked this access to date, it probably means they can't.
Does your trick work with the SQ system?

Any more news about agent access to AN?

Regards

Wink

Hell yes 32 bits - I can go into the Air NZ sys - El Al - British - South African - numerous South American airlines and quite a few others too and make bookings on AN flights - if they switch Merlin back on.

There really is no way to stop it unless you totally shut down "total access" which Sabre would be very reticent to do.

In the long run it would be very counter productive to make such a move as AN would eventually be a very good earner for them again.

One has to look beyond the envelope - as Chuck Yeager said - embrace the ughknown.

Loco,

I think the pax prefer the home cooked cake and special lollies to the usual Le Snack !

We have been continually supported by all pax of late, with two gentleman in Canberra cancelling their QF ticket after seeing our SAAB on the tarmac and booking with us, unbelievable.

One step at a time. If we can fly the airline the way it was intended and clear the tentacles that were choking us, we will do well, as will the new owner.

Any way back to making cakes.......

Ray Dar - I read your post and went outside for a smoke - and was blessed to have the SF340 go 3 green just outside my office - and thought of what you said. It hit home. These good people will be able to eventually get a job anywhere in the aviation world - but that aint the point. They want THEIR airline back and are moving heaven and earth to do that - on 50% pay and feeding the passengers themselves.

God love them - there is still an Airline culture in Australia.

Go you good thing.

Red face

No - not yet duckie - and flat out on corporate international so havent had much of a chance to give it a shake. Itdoes irkme that I cant have my staff selling the white winged wonder again - I just cannot afford for them to be on the phone for 10 minutes to sell a ticket for no commission. Even if it was $10.00 as we normally recieve for a DPO MEL DPO at deepest discount it would be worth the effort.I am sorry - but i will not ever add a service fee to the booking - scurvy world travel locally does - and let them live with it. Not on!! Unfair to the punters.
