Post What is the Queen getting around in?

I saw on the idiot box last night that HRH, arrived in Brissy in what looked like a very very large twin jet from BA. Does anyone know what it is? I was thinking it was a 777, however that would be one huge charter bill.

You are correct the Queen has her very own BA B-777!!! You know the saying "Its good to be the King", or the Queen in this case.

She is about to arrive in CS in the RAAF Falcon.

The Airport have asked that all GA operators refrain from taking off, landing, startup, taxy or runups between 1230 and 1330

Where else would they shut an airport because some Pommy sheila is arriving?

CS, have a bit of respect, anyone with an ounce of decorum does not want the moment of her arrival spoilt by some grubby GA pilot barrelling down the runway in a noisey clapped out 402.

I for one, will herald her arrival by standing on the eastern side of the GA lines waving a Union Jack, in the vague hope that she might glimpse me as she speeds past. Then I will go to the Aero Club to get drunk and tell everyone about it.

Last I saw she was getting around in a frilly little yellow frock, dainty gloves and nice lacy hat!!!

Gaunty, I think it was "purple airspace" , a separation zone larger than normal that was afforded to a normal IFR acft.

Compressor Stall, whatever your political views try (however hard) and have some class and decorum. She IS YOUR head of state as the system at present. If you put Canada and Australia together she is the head of state over fair whack of ground/airspace. Think of what "protection" Air Force One gets when it flies around.

BTW would you prefer George W as your head of state??

I still find it outrageous that an airport requests a ceasing of operations (and it is not a directive for safety consideration) because she is arriving. I would be curious to see if Air Nugini's F28 was asked to delay - that is louder than all the GA aircraft put together.

I have respect for Her Majesty as an English head of state, and I think that she has held herself incredibly well as her offspring do their best to destroy the monarchy.

Dont forget your paying from your own pockets, for the honour of her visit..... and,. .777 in WLG was interesting I hear. Never mind BA filing wrong FL and forgetting about daylight saving......not required to wear seat belts and cell phones ok at any time ...

Dunno mate - I was not there. Having a day off . You can see 33 approach/15 departures from my room up on Edge Hill, but I must have had 3RRR streaming into my stereo a tad too loud to hear the Falcons...

Cool

Yup, they were in the second one.. .We got the Royal wave as she was driven past our hangar.

HRH then commissioned a new B200 and a PC-12 for the RFDS.
