Why would the ACCC put such a condition on the sale of Impulse? After all they'd gone broke and if it weren't for Qantas their staff would all be out on the streets picking up their dole checks. There was most certainly a condition that the purchase of Impulse was not to result in job losses within the Qantas organisation, but let's face it. Qantas have done their best with Impulse, they kept their staff employed, and if they're not making money they'll look at ways of recouping their losses. If that means reducing their fleet size and redundancies, so be it. The Impulse staff should be thankful to Qantas that they've kept their jobs for this long.

Again, RUBBISH! Why would Qf hand over millions of dollars to Gerry for a company not making money. The only reason for this would be to wipe them off the competitive routes. The ACCC 'DID' impose conditions to stop this but QF bought it anyway.. .. .Fact: Impulse did not go broke!. .Fact: the 717's ARE profitable, hence the deal in the first place.. .. . Do your sums dj, anyone can figure that out! The 717 has a break even load factor of nearlly 20% below that of a 737. Loads are continually high on the services it provides. What I will agree is that the 1900 is losing the company money, hence the decision to discard of them.. .I am not sticking up for the Impulse guys, but these are the facts (taken from various creditable sources).. ......And oh yes, QF did save the Impulse guys from job losses, but not because they are sympathetic to employees but for thier own commercial gain (just like everything they do!).

You're right JJ, Impulse didn't go broke. But they'd never have been handed over to Qantas if they'd been making money and paying the bills. And if it weren't for Qantas, would they still be flying? Or course not.. .. .Qantas picking up Impulse was an opportunist action which they are apparently regretting. Who knows why'd they'd reduce the fleet. This is a rumour network after all.

Vince? Where is your proof, son? All you have is your "courses" again. You and your mates are full of it. Once again, I challenge you for one iota of proof. Next week, next year. Whenever.. .. .And mate, if Long Beach is as far afield as you get, then grow up. There's plenty more world out there than just the old MD factory.. .. .For the record, I don't fly dash's (something a little bigger - the handle is an old one), however I respect those guys far more than I do you clown no-pulse drivers. At least they know when to keep their mouth closed. Laugh your arse off my friend if it pleases you. You still get paid a hell of a lot less than I do.. .. .By the way, you will have a hard time on your 717 course if you can't even spell "jets", Vince my boy.. .. .It's my prop lever and I'll play with it as hard and as fast as I like....

So, Proplever, what do you fly mate? I see no reason why you wouldnt tell us. In fact, who do you work for and why do you consistently bash the Impulse guys?. .People that arent afraid to shoot from the hip behind false identities are cowards mate. We all have false identities, but to use it to defame a group of probably hard working individuals is gutless! I pity you!. .. ......I will expect a nasty post about me next, just so YOU can have the last word. You are so predictable!. . . . [ 24 March 2002, 00:45: Message edited by: Jimbo James ]

Well, what would I expect. When you guys can't come up with the info, you play the man not the ball.. .. .I'm not going to bother with justifying my previous post, simply because you need to read the post, and the entire thread to understand it. So go read it guys.. .. .Now, Jimbo and Buffett. Anonimity is the name of the game here. Don't like it? Go to the Disney web site then. And attack me all you like, but you still haven't provided any evidence.. .. .And as for the last word? Yeah. Maybe I will, Jimbo. Maybe it's warranted. No nasty post. . .. .Here it is - Just bring on the proof - and make me eat humble pie. Then I'll be impressed. Then YOU can have the last word.

Quote Buffet Threshold, "ARBET MACHT FRET". .. .Are you serious? Have you seriously put a phrase in a post that would send shivers down the spine of a whole generation, and got it wrong! . .. .That truly is pathetic. With out a doubt that is the most pathetic use of literary licence that I have ever seen. Ever.. .. .You have officially cemented yourself as the true goose of PPrune.. .. .You idiot,. .. .Sonny.. . . . [ 24 March 2002, 04:55: Message edited by: Sonny Hammond ]

First things first. I have no idea whether 'Impluse' will get more 717's or not. Just want to clear that up. . .. .But...in the true spirit of pprune, I have a thought to share.. .. .Has anyone been following the articles in Flight about American returning their 717's? Apparently they did a deal where after x years they can start returning y aircraft a month to Boeing should they see fit. Well, it's been x years already and they are on the way back. . .. .Food for thought: American already has a strong relationship with Qantas. They are already shipping their surplus aircraft (re 737-800's) to Oz with a roo on the tail. So...SHOULD Qantas decide it needs more 717's, they could pick them up pretty cheaply, yes?. .. .Just a thought.. .. .TT.

B717 proposed @ $20 million each in todays depressed climate? Good time to buy up, replace tired aircraft and increase capacity.

Interesting to note that buffet threshold's post has dissapeared?. .. .Where did it go? Maybe Sonny embarrassed him enough such that he removed it?. .. .Good to see that there is a little more conjecture and less on the personal attacks front. Still no proof though.....

Maybe, Maybe not,. .Maybe Buffet Threshold has decided that this is a pointless and fruitless exercise that bears no light at the end of the tunnel. Yes I have removed my post's due to the offence that I had portrayed to those individual's. However I stand by the point of the asimilation of that text to portray the unnecessary victimisation of Impulse piolts by those of you who are now offended. IRONIC HEY.... .. .No I believe it is now my work is done here.... .GOODBYE. I shall monitor this no longer, I have better things to do... . . . [ 26 March 2002, 00:08: Message edited by: Buffet threshold ]

Question

Vince, I don't doubt that Impulse may get more B717 and a number of your above details may be correct...... But, as a PUBLIC company, QF is required by law to advise the ASX what is going on within the company. Unless you have seen the ASX released document I think you might be jumping the gun a little. It doesn't really in the end matter too much what the management of Impulse say. Nothing is final until the Board approves the purchases. Normally once the Board approves any purchase a media / ASX release will be made. So till then keep d.......
