Where do you guys get your information??? Airlink is a joint venture between Qantas & NJS. Airconnex is the subsidiary company of Qantas that purchased Impulse Airlines. BC is the General Manager of Airconnex, there is no connection between the two.. .. .Qantas calls the shots on a capacity basis, 737's replaced 146's to Adelaide, 717's replaced 146's to Tasmania and the 146's now fly the ML-CB-SY-BN shuttle. As long as they need 75 seats there will be a 146 or its replacement. There will be no more 717's unless they need more a/c that size which under the present circumstances seems pretty unlikely.

Datal seniority? . .Isn't Qantas deciding on seniority for Impulse/Airconnex and it's other regionals? How many Dash 8 drivers would want drive a 717 anyway? Not many I think.

No more 717's for a while yet, the board paper was not convincing.. .. .NZ would be a waste if time, and why would QF bother paying for 717 first of type in nZ.. .. .146's are on their routes because they are 75 seater routes, otherwise there would be 737's on them.. .. .The staus quo will remain for a while as the Dornier and Embraer replace, ments have only just started certification.. .. .The bottom line is the bottom line and until that can be made to work then the QF board won't go shopping.

Pumpkinhead.. .Your info incorrect.. .Airlink is no more. It was quietly disbanded, the G.M. departed , the sales staff now reporting to the QF Manager in Perth and the operation controlled by Airconnex (B.C.). .Also the 146 does not fly SYD-BNE

so does this mean that Qantas gets the 717's and runs them on the NZ routes/sectors therefore getting rid of their leased 737's in NZ?. .. .Would make sense if they are leasing a few 737's in NZ.. .. .Any thoughts?

Nipilnibla,. .. .Since your last post a week or two ago, much water has passed beneath the bridge.. .. .Now that Virgin Blue is set, potentially, to become a force with which Qantas will have to reckon, perhaps the Board's views on life have altered.. .. .Are you able to amplify your previous comment ? . .. .As far as I can see, the 717 has to be an excellent feeder jet. It certainly has superb seat cost figures.

You're right RHL..., the 717 has excellent seat cost structure. One can assume that the QF board would now rubber stamp the purchase after the VirginBlue announcement. Leaks have confirmed that the QF board never said "no", they have not made a final decision yet but looks to be soon....

Nipilnibla,. .. .You seem to be an equivocator, sir. . .. .Perchance can you indicate your assessment of when an announcement might be made, the number of aircraft involved, and the likely introduction date(s) ?

Thumbs up

My sources indicate the rego's will be VXP thru to VXU. Might be a larger Boeing than a 717 I suggest!

Of course QF will get more 717's simply because they look so incredibly horny .. .Example, Dixons decree that the 738's wear those awesome winglets... .It don't really matter how good you fly, as long as you look good doing it.. .More planes for everyone.. YEH BABY YEH!

I think that proplever, flickroll and all of their VQ-bashing merrymen are busily trying to remove their feet from their mouths.I'm sure they can score a discount now for group anger-management sessions.. .. .It's good to see something positive happen in the industry for a change. Here's hoping there's more to follow.

4 (or 6) new F/O's does not a 717 order make!. .. .If there were 10 or 12 slots (per aeroplane) being filled then I would reckon the rumours are correct - but small numbers of people being trained could mean extra flying for the existing fleet or attrition replacements..... .. .It would not too much ectra flying to absorb 4 new F/O's across an 8 aeroplane fleet...... .. .But I suppose anything is possible in today's aviation environment!!
