Talking Nothing Happened Today! Everything Fine!!!

Well of course this heading is not true, but I thought I would start a thread, where those of us that fear constant change and disaster, can hide in till this all blows over.... please feel free to report any occurrences of the status quo in this thread.

BTW..resistance is futile..

There ya go Lame... feel better now mate? I too can confidently report that the toilet paper in the Hyatt Brisbane still retains that reassuring combination of softness and strength!

It's the little things folks..

Btw...resistance is futile..!

I went flying today.

The weather was very nice.

There was pretty snow on the hills.

(Ominous music)

Voice Over: (Michael Palin) June the 4th, 1973, was much like any other summer's day in Peterborough, and Ralph Melish, a file clerk at an insurance company, was on his way to work as usual when... (da dum!) Nothing happened! (dum dum da dum) Scarcely able to believe his eyes, Ralph Melish looked down. But one glance confirmed his suspicions. Behind a bush, on the side of the road, there was *no* severed arm. No dismembered trunk of a man in his late fifties. No head in a bag. Nothing. Not a sausage. For Ralph Melish, this was *not* to be the start of any trail of events which would not, in no time at all, involve him in neither a tangled knot of suspicion, nor any web of lies, which would, had he been not involved, surely have led him to no other place, than the central criminal court of the Old Bailey.

(muttering voices, Judge's gavel banging.)

Voice Over: But it was not to be (ominous music returns). Ralph Mellish reached his office in Dullsells Street in Peterborough, at 9:05 a.m., exactly the same time as he usually got in!

(door opens)

Enid: Morning, Mr. Melish

Ralph: (Terry Jones) Morning, Enid

Voice Over: Enid, a sharp-eyed, clever young girl, who had been with the firm for only 4 weeks, couldn't help noticing the complete absence of tiny but tell-tale blood stains on Mr. Melish's clothing. Nor did she notice anything strange in Mr. Melish's behaviour that whole morning. Nor the next morning. Nor at any time before or since the entire period she worked for that firm.

Ralph: Have the new paper clips arrived, Enid?

Enid: Yes, they're over there, Mr. Melish.

Ralph: (faintly) Oh...

Voice Over: But for the lack of any untold circumstances for this young secretary to notice, and the total non-involvement of Mr. Melish in anything illegal, the full weight of the law would have insured that Ralph Auldus Mellish would have ended up like all who challenge the fundamental laws of our society. In an iron coffin with spikes on the inside.

Cairns is windy but fine. My cat is scratching at a flea. The power just went out and my battery is running low. Just another ordinary day.

Well here in Perth, if you could have bottled the air today you would make a fortune.
Took my black toy poodle Fido for a walk to the river, where he made friends with a little white girl Maltese Cross, whose mother got a little cross at their show of affection for each other.
I bought some croissant and sat in the sun to eat them with a good cup of Espresso whilst watching them play.

CNN is still rehashing old news in an attempt to look like they've got something to say. I'm sure they absolutely hate all this waiting around! But they've been doing that for quite a while now too.

On cable, the HBO channel is still repeating all the same old movies ... nothing ever changes there.

The sun came up this morning. The temperature increased thru the day until about 0400Z, when it started to slide slowly back. And, now, it even looks like the sun will go down again ... just as usual.

Seems like everything here is still the same.

Red face

Planet earth continued to rotate on frictionless bearings, spinning its way through another of the finite number of days before the sun becomes a red dwarf and incinerates it, destroying all traces of life, art, culture, technology, indeed the very planet itself.

Mankind continued sublimely on its way, some documenting the history of this slightly-flawed species, others engaged in furthering the ultimately futile technologies, others contemplating the eternal questions. Most simply got on with their lives, just as they have for every other day they have spent alive.

Elsewhere in the universe, sentient life-forms continued doing whatever it is they do.

Time moved relentlessly onwards.

The universe is unfolding - expanding - evolving - exploding - as it should. Nothing has changed. And if it had, in all probability none of us would even notice anyway.

I draw great comfort from all of this. It confirms my suspicion that I am even more insignificant than I first thought!

The beginning of another fine, if slightly overcast, day in Melbourne. Another night shift almost over, all simulators prepared for the invasion of intrepid aviators eager, as ever, to enhance their knowledge and skills to prepare for the never-ending battle against the unknown forces railing against them. I can go home to bed safe in the knowledge of a night's work well done.

Kind regards,

TheNightOwl.

North or South? That is the question! Just get me away from the Gold Coast!
