Time to bore it up Air Niw Zulland!!
Well good people - with what has been emerging here over the last few days, I voted with my size 15 1/2 EE feet - and hit the NZ website which has had any reference or logos of AN except "nah - we wont accept their paper" removed.
Basic core of the email was - "How to you make a troubled airline fail completely in Australia?" Answer is have it run by Air New Zealand and wait a while.
May I respectfully suggest that you do the same should you feel so inclined.I am sure some PPRuner can supply the link.
It would appear that the ineptituded of management that contributed to the tragic loss of a DC10 is still entrenched in the company. That is in no way a shot at the good frontline people of NZ - but reading the transcripts and court case findings I feel no-one could argue that.
Out of interest and absolute amazement, I was on the phone to a client in Columbo on Friday, after the early morning phone calls started (He works as an operative for the UN) and was told that he was aware of the news about the shutdown on the previous Monday. UN operatives were told to make alternative flight arrangements as Ansett would not be operating.
I really feel for all my friends and former colleagues at AN. They are great team and I wish them the best.
I was told months ago that the KD SYD CBR under KD yield management was returning a profit of $100,000 a week. NZ demanded AN take it over and apply the NZ specified yield management equation, and within a week turned it all around. Into a $100,000 a week losing route. Geniuses!
Something is really rotten in this matter - and time will no doubt show that.
As for Kiwi bashing as whatsherface the NZ PM has accused Aussie of on TV - Really??? Wonder why. I mean only 15,000 Aussie jobs and 30,000 jobs in supply industries.

I signed mine - and dont give an obese rodents undercarriage that NZ own the chain of agencies mine is franchised to.
