Question KD going or Gone ?

Just wondering what is going to happen to KD? Is there a date by which new owners must be found or will they continue to fly not really threating the competion. I feel for the guys/girls there but I am sure that this prolonged limbo cant be good for anyone in the company. Sincere questions!

The great little cousin of AN is haemoraging badly under equally inept recievership as its uncle endures.

The loads have come up locally but yield is abysmal as the confidence base and the source of 90% of the revenue (travel agents) have been out of the recovery loop until just recently.

Wonderful staff who ran an excellent operation are being treated like crap by the admin leeches and are seeing their little lady slip away.

A proud airline that was running well and profitably has been bastardised by the AN/NZ coalition and their high profit routes have been over run by QF link - SYDCBR - SYDCFS - SYDBNK - SYDABX - MELDPO and fair is fair - who can blame the Rat. It had to happen to provide the service. Internal SA is the one remaining untouched gem.

AN forceing the CRJ on KD is mostly to blame - A very hard aeroplane to make money on in Oz and particularly on the routes it was assigned but with AN yield management - impossible. With the KD dudes running it - a better than even chance.

Don must be spinning in his grave - even though he had told the AN toecutters that he did not want his name on their aeroplanes for their behaviour and lack of airline expertise.

The creeps moved in the day that Don was on the table being operated on for cancer - so he could not be there. Sick bastards.

Question

A sad situation, indeed EWL.

But let me ask you a simple question (probably more appropriate to AN as a whole): If you 'did your dough' on prepaid tickets pre Sept 14, would you take the chance again?

This is not a shot, just a valid question anyone might ask of any company sitting on the edge.

I think that's the problem you'll find most of the travelling public has.

Unhappy

Rumor is that from 1st February 2002 KD will be recommencing their original timetables. Some crews have been asked to come back in etc. I find this all a little hard to believe given the extremely light loads in the Vic section at least around 10 - 20% ONLY. I wish all the KD people well but no one likes to see an old dog in pain. About time someone administed the lethal injection.

KYBO - that is not what I am getting as info from a very reliable source.

KD would love to be breaking even - but are not nearly covering DOCs.

The loads have certainly come up, but the yield is not there and AN are still trying to run the yield management. Something they have shown themselves comprehensivelly inept at doing.

There is a hope for the little dude but it will need someone with very deep pockets and a symbiotic relationship with Big Brother for incarriage/oncarriage tickets. If AN insist on nailing them for a fortune for Terminal access and res system space they will shoot themselves in the foot.

Hugh - you are right. There is a lot of "ouch" factor still in the marketplace. I have found over the years that there is a 6 month memory of major upheavals. This one may take 9 to fade but will - if "deep pockets" can keep it together until then.

Best all
