Post MY FIVE DOLLAR FLIGHT

Thanks VB,got to experience you first hand recently, courtesy of your $5 fare.

Check in staff friendly and courteous.

F/A`s youthful, very busy and enthuasiastic.Perhaps not as graceful as the best from other airlines.

The joking around with the stuffy pre-flt cabin briefings entertaining, once off though, may tire if the same old routine.

The airobics a surprise, especially the belly dancing, enjoyed immensely, though I wish the male F/A had of sat down,he obscured my view of the girls.

Facilities rudimentary but a lot has been done with little,a lot better than I expected. If to remain a leisure airline terminals not a big issue.

As an opposition airline employee, think they are doing a great job.

I personally believe, like a budjet inner city unit, the decor in the form of VBs products and services will date quickly, needing constant reinvigoration by management.

With all the rumours floating around,I was glad I didn`t become a $5 creditor! Thanks for the one off opportunity and good luck.

I flew with VB last week too (but not for 5 dollars), and I can say this much: Over the past four years I have been on about 25 commercial flights,(Int'l and domest) and DJ243 was the first flight in four years to have left the gate on time, and arrived at the destination gate ahead of time. I was very impressed to say the least!
They may have easy acces terminals and gates, and closer to the runways, but the bottom line still remains......they were on time!

JJ, you should try Ansett; over 90% on-time performance. AN311,MEL-PER, last night; on time departure, 2 minute early arrival. The return, AN310; 5 minute early departure, 10 minute early arrival. Happens most of the time!

had mt first virgin the other day too!

no dancing or singing or anything too odd. the staff were as helpful as the other guys and the face painting was a hit with the kids.

only complaint was the odour when i boarded ex darwin. strong BO waft emanating from somewhere.
thought it may have been a nearby pax but copped it again ex bris.
anyone know what this may be? aircon or seats??

BTW 2/3 full ex Drw
about 1/2 on the way back.

I have flown with them, too. Just to check it all out! Some of my good friends are FA's with VB and all enjoy their work enviornment very much. I flew BNE/ADL (return) and was impressed. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The style of service is fun and light hearted and suits the pax. It was a bit of a concern with the amount of hand luggage allowed on board and I was a bit cramped on the trip down (my knees touched the seat back in front of me) but on the way back I sat toward the front of the cabin and it was a little more comfy. (I beleive the first 10 or so rows have a little more leg room and they try and allocate these seats to their business clients.) I reckon they would make a fortune from that cart. It must be a flying gold mine. I was surprised to see how much people were prepared to buy - and pay (for eats, drinks and merchandise) while they were flying. Great concept - charge them next to nothing for a seat and they spend $75 each on beers!

not for me. No thanks - I'd rather walk. What has Virgin done for Australia. Only doing lucrative routes. basing their costs on these routes, and telling the rest of Australia they've been ripped off by the other airlines - who incidently provide a service to rural Australians. It's not about SY - ML - BN etc

yeah Don---, but don't they fully own Eastern? But I hesitate to fly where you have to curtsy to the Flight Attendant when you get on board, and if you're not flying First or business, speak only when and if spoken to....

It will be interesting to see if Virgin expand into rural Australia, once they have consolidated on the profitable trunk routes.

VB MEL-SYD-MEL two weeks ago.

First leg ran on time - return leg ran 2 hours late. Some flights ex SYD ran 3 hours late. Absolute **** fight in the VB terminal - all the CSO's running around like madmen - pax walking across tarmac to wrong aircraft etc.

F/A greeting at top of stairs had just cleaned a/c and was dripping with sweat - lovely.

One 737 sat on the taxiway for 45 minutes engines running as no parking was left.

What a day.

Rescue, it wil be just as interesting to see how many more routes the Oz taxpayer will subsidise !. .competition ???

Huntsman, glad you enjoyed it, you paid for the flight twice.

On a more positive note, flew with them a while back on a few sectors, all but one departed on time, all arrived on time or early, nice FAs, did'nt crash, what more could you ask for <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

Sorry huntsman, I assumed you were an Oz taxpayer which would mean your taxes help subsidise VB, plus you purchased a ticket......= paying twice.

i'm an Oz taxpayer, Stupid, but by your logic i should never use anything with gummint support.

you know like hospitals, trash collection, small business development support, etc, even ansett.

fairly narrow-minded opinion my friend.

Interpret it how you like, last time I looked, hospitals, trash collection ( council ) were gummint owned..not a real good example, considering VB is foreign owned.

Oh, and don't get me started on the Oz taxpayer helping to support a badly run/managed, fully foreign owned private company ie. Ansett......

. .my friend.
