17.5% was the log of claims ambit from Civil Air. Negotiations have made it quite clear that the unions will settle for not less than CPI increase, with retention of existing conditions and no loss of conditions for future employees. Airservices have then said OK to most of the conditions but - the salary increase offered is now 0.5% (? per 6 or 12 mths I'm not sure) with annual bonus depending traffic/productivity but total increase+bonus not more than 1.5%. Extremely generous offer at a time when most people in the industry are happy just to have a job.

In rough math, in relation to the last 15-18 months and the future, a figure of anything less than 3.8% is below CPI. . .. .Binos, . .. .In relation "to the public", they now have a figure and in the public's eyes they would expect something in the middle which ASA, currently, will not offer. We are mirrored with the New Zealand EBA negotiations where they publicly claimed (unions) 8% and received 6%. ASA needed to get something out to the public, reasons you have stated, but no mention of the other threshold items. ASA and the stake holders, HOWARD PTY. LTD., are now on the back foot choking on a lot of pressure from industry, but we all know at the end of the day, the sharpest knife comes out of the draw, which ASA are not.. .. .Cheers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> . .. .------------------------------. ....contact departures, ou roo.

To all you Aussie ATC's, those on this side of the ditch support you as much as we are able. There are many similarities between the place you find yourselves now and where we were in '95-'96 when our strikes took place. The numbers are similar too. We claimed 16% and ended up settling for 6%, that wasn't such a bad result given that at the time management were trying to split the union, the old divide and conquer game. We prevailed in the end and sent them packing. . .. .As for fighting in the media, we didn't. Why not? simple reason is that the employer always has the deeper pockets. It is a battle that unfortunately the worker will never win.. .. .I urge all ATCO's to give 110% support to Civilair, because if there is one thing that the company can't beat, it is the solidarity of the workers.. .. .KUTGW

This needs to be sorted out now. Driving around in a turbine at low level for 70 miles burning more fuel than the yanks during the gulf war is just crazy. Get back to the table and lets all be happy. Best of luck guys you do a great job.

Chopa,. .. .Thanks for the support, the one thing we do have IS the solidarity of the workers. The stop work meetings in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane showed this. And thanks to Neil from you association at the Melbourne meeting, showing the same support and a great insight to the dealings with your management.. .. .Cheers.. .. .------------------------------. ....contact departures, uo roo.
