I do know that Virgin Blue took a direct entry Capt with a start at AN of Nov. '90. Not that this individual had anything to do with the dispute(and apprarently those who employ at Virgin B. agree). The group from AN that are getting the work are generally '89'ers. About 12-15 at SQ, 10-20 odd in Europe, 20-30 odd at Air Japan and Air Do, at least 6 on contract at QF and about 20 in Korea. Some in Taiwan as well. I heard that a school in Korea comprised a 'non-returnee' and 4 'heroes'. They were, by all accounts, very nice to him and included him in social outings, which he eventually accepted.

I didn't say that they were at KAL (there's that nastiness again...). In any event GG, I am certain that face-to-face with me, you would keep a more civil tongue in your head. If you, or anyone else wishes to contradict what has been posted, fine. Do it and BE CIVIL ABOUT IT. I only post what I know of from the grapevine. I am well aware that there are several who post here, such as yourself, have a problem with my postings because I have disagreed with with aspects of the dispute that some wish to perpertrate as myth and also for the then reasons for industrial action. For example, the myth that ALL non-returnees conducted themselves as gentlemen(and women). I also realize that many would wish that the 'heroes' will not find work. I know that it must distress you and others that they are. I am not posting this just to stick it up you, the above statisics are the figures that I have heard around the traps. If you have other information feel free to post it. . . . . [ 18 March 2002, 04:56: Message edited by: ANFO ]

ANFO. I must apologise for innacuracies in my last post. It's only 3 and no more coming. The gay one couldn't hack it and the lightfingered one didn't get to interview.. .Sources inside the only other airline indicate that they are not taking any either.. .So whichever way you look at it, you are either full of it or a purveyor of it. If the cap fits..... .BTW were I to meet you face to face I would say exactly the same, that is if I could be bothered. So please desist with the veiled threats. Terribly unbecoming young fella.. .. .GG. . . . [ 18 March 2002, 07:15: Message edited by: Grange Guzzler ]

There he goes again....Look GG, you MAY be right. I have no 1st hand knowledge of where anyone is. All I'm saying is what I have heard. And what I have heard is above! Also what I HAVE HEARD is that several 'heroes' ex-B767 and at least 1X A320 have been employed by Asiana. Is what you are saying that KAL now have a POLICY that they will not take ex '89ers??? Or is this some 'myth' that you wish to propagate to make people feel uncomfortable. It would surprise me that KAL management care two pins about the dispute now. They haven't in the past. Incidently, mate, I never, ever make threats, physical or otherwise; If I need to act, I act. I dont talk about it. My implication is that at face-to-face people are generally more polite than on forums such as these. No more smilies for you. Go have another drink...

I'm somewhat intrigued by the current use of the term " 89ers "... which any 89er knows refers to non scabs!. .. .All of a sudden it seems that the scabs of Ansett are calling themselves "89ers" in an endevour to curry favour and achieve O/seas postings!. .. .Believe me, this will not work!!

ANFO. .Dont waste your time with Grange as he's had too much of it already and the damage has been done.. .We both know that the 89 guys are getting the good jobs again and leaving the scraps to the likes of us. SQ have taken 12 to date including a Canadian "hero" pre the colapse so there goes their theory.. .Those who attack you have been bitter for 13 years now so just let them live on in their fantasy that the 89ers wont get work.. .I agree that Grange would not speak to you like that face to face. He's a tough guy with a keyboard and that's where it ends.

Pity, I was hoping that the thread would stay on track and a simple answer to a simple question be provided.. .. .I hesitate to lock it because it has been a habit in the past for agent provocateurs to force it to be so to prevent any further embarassment.. .. .So lets see where we go from here eh.. .. .Shall we get back on track then?

VB have taken quite a number of ex-Ansett pilots. Given the volume of expansion proposed (and the time frame)where else are experienced airline pilots to be found?. .. .ANFO are you sure about your Air Japan figures? My info was that there were to be only 7 aircraft, therefore it would be an all ex-Ansett affair, and then some.

Question

Thank you everyone . . .I certainly did want to keep this simple.. .I apologise if I have raised the hackles.. .I refused to believe that Virgin could afford to let go , so many ,well trained and experienced pilots .In the aviation world based on the every dollar counts philosophy.. . That is , I presumed in the Sir Richard principle, he would have tried to save as much money as possible by cutting costs wherever possible.(the lean and mean ideal). .Does anyone know if he is even aware this selective culling is happening in Australia. A system pivoting on the politics of 1989.. .Anyhow I lost the bet ,as I had argued that 1989 would have no effect in the large scheme of things downunder.. .Never mind.. .Thanks again all . cheers.
