Commonwealth to subsidise DJ to Isa, Dwn & Cns
ABC Radio this evening reporting the C'wealth has reached agreement with DJ to provide twice daily (?) services to Mt Isa effective immediately and three services/week each to Darwin and Cairns effective 1 December.
C'wealth will underwrite minimum 60 % load on each service "to provide competition to QANTAS on these routes".
Is "competition" becoming a single word oxymoron?
Look out for next weeks policy announcement when they announce parenting leave for couples who are half pregnant.

From your ABC in Darwin.
Fed Govt to underwrite Virgin flights to north Australia
The Federal Government will underwrite the Virgin Blue airline to fly on three north Australian routes in competition with Qantas.
Virgin Blue will fly from Brisbane to Darwin and Brisbane to Cairns from December 1.
Flights from Brisbane to Mount Isa will begin immediately, twice a day.
The Government is putting up $7.5 million for the move, which airlines will be able to access if passenger loads are under a certain figure.
Mr Anderson announced the plan while campaigning in Darwin, in a bid to provide competition to Qantas.

I have to ask, IF this mob is so popular and the travelling public desperately want them operating these services why on earth am I subsidising them with my taxes.
It is up to the travelling public to vote with their feet to keep this mob afloat albeit for a little while.
I for one will not support them. 3-4 hrs with no room to move, will need to provide free tickets not cheap ones ??
