The cleaners at Tulla tell me that AN is about to put on around 20 FO's in the coming two weeks, having real trouble trying to find crew to roster flights.!!!!!

I wasn't aware that the cleaners at Tulla were experts in HR for AN, unlike the Townsville refueller who is a proven expert.
I was looking at the cloud patterns changing in the breeze when I realised that they were telling me that you would NOT make any serious financial commitments (like morgage repayments) based on employment with AN right now.

You can read the clouds feets? Truly amazing.
Do you frequently indulge in conversation with the cleaners?

Well chaps I was at a meeting in AKL the other night where Gazza & Jenson addressed the ANZ pilots, TJ said that there 25 new jobs going at AN next week and if any of us were interested in crossing the ditch we should pop in and see him in Flt ops on monday am...
Guess we are already type rated so that would save Ansett a coupla bucks and given the huge pay difference a few might be tempted to go....
Think I'll hang around here for a bit longer..

AN has contacted Australian pilots currently working in UK, offering job interviews. (These approaches weren't "out of the blue" - pilots had sent applications to AN).
Pilots approached are currently flying 767's.
I haven't heard of any one actually being given a start

From an AN Check Captain : "We have been given approval to employ 20 F/O's onto the 146".
When asked this was going to occur there was no definite answer , but as there is supposed to be some more equipment assignments within the next 2 weeks I would suspect it will be sooner rather than later.
This would come as a relief especially to some of the F/O's in the west as they have apparently been sitting on max. hours for the last 3 months and often Captain's have been flying together due to shortage of F/O's.

Listen very carefully...
Yes, AN have been contacting a few 76 drivers OS.
Yes, AN have been contacting some of the successful round one applicants from a few months ago, they have been invited in for round two.
Had also heard that the number they were looking for was in the region of 20 bods. (had also heard 50 but , who knows)?
The Goss.

I heard on the grapevine that a 146 course was scheduled and then cancelled a week ago. Everything in rigour mortis until the final ownership is decided. I suppose a start on the 146 is at least a start ! Maybe.....

If the 146 option is the go, what are the main bases that would likely be on the table.
Is the 146 thing just to ease some of the current workload, or are the 4 burners coming back from over the pond to add additional to the fleet ?
