Angry Where to Stay in Melbourne?

Hello,
I hope this is not an inappropriate subject for this forum, but I am currently doing ME CIR training based at Bankstown & am planning a NAV to Essendon on 29th Dec where we'll overnight (have a few ales), then fly back to BK the following arvo/eve.
I am not familiar with Essendon / Melbourne and was wondering whether anyone could recommend:-

a) A watering hole
b) A place to stay (at student pilot rates!)

Thanks

There's a pub at MEB, but I don't know it. Skyways is virtually across the freeway from the airport, nothing flash, but handy. Theres a few hotels closer to Tulla like Ciloms on Melrose drive, or the Melbourne airport motor inn (I think) on Mickelham road. Both clean & have a bar (which I think is your priority here ). Also, Ciloms is across the road from the Melbourne airport club. Not as good as it used to be, but a lot of airline staff still use it. I hope this helps....

Cheers, Buster!

The Men's Gallery,
Sante Fe.....

But seriously,

Go and stay at a BACKPACKERS you will have a ball...... prob around $20 for the night and that may include Inga from Sweden. Suggest bp's in Stkilda, City or Port Melb.

Have fun......

Try the Ciloms Airport Lodge, very close to both Ess. and Tulla.
Great location, quiet, bar/pool/free breaky and they will pick up and drop off from Tulla. not sure about Ess.

You will also find a bunch of AN pilots staying there when doing sim.

Thumbs up

Thanks! Buster, HA, backtrak,

Yes, the BAR is a priority ... somewhere to fall afterwards is certainly important though.. Ciloms sound like the go.

Cheers, & 'ave-a-good-one

Hiya Scotty

Ifa ya ken resting the old dilithium crystals at a really nice place, try Saville on Russell. I recently had a one bedroom apartment there for $126.00 a night in a lovely property. With industry ID you should be OK, but give me a call on 1800067207 tomorrow and I will give you the phone number of the lady to call.

All the best.

EWL (Ron Knight to make the call a little easier.)

Hey, EWL/Ron, gonna havta pass on Saville ... turns out the instructor's even more broke than I am ... budget stands at <=$60 each.
Thanks anyway! Maybe when I've finished spending my 2nd last penny on Avgas & company in the cockpit of an a/c, I will save enough 2B able to afford alcoholic beverages AND a decent spot to fall.
Cheers,
Scotty!
