I wonder if Waihi will become the next adventure capital of NZ for thrill-seeking families....we've had pot-holing, canyoning, black water rafting etc, now we have Sink-Holing! I can just imagine the advertising hype already.

"Latest craze for adrenalin junkies involves the whole family"
Just build a 4 bedroom home over an old gold mine shaft, wait a few years, go to bed a bit before midnight and wait for the thrill to begin as you, your family, house and car are swallowed up in a spectacular subsidence that is guaranteed to give you the ride of your life!!
Hurry though, available sections are going fast!!

White Island? Flew over it a few times. Smelly place, even without your socks.

* I wonder why they say " don't fly into the smoke" ? It's all too confusing.

Funny you say you lost your sock big beres, I came across a situation a few years back on White Island where a poor old pilot got caught short while on a tour, and to cut a long story short had to fly home with no socks!.

I'm sure if you look somewhere behind a big rock on the flats you may find them!.

Just aswell the Island is smelly anyway!

Thumbs up

Thank you Big Jim for your comments, I heard that rumour as well, I think DOC may have classed them as a bio-hazard by now.

frf, na didn't make it in that day, with a 50 kt tail wind didn't think i could quite manage it. but with your experience i saw you nail that landing. what did your punters say?

you're a bloody legend mate. we need more pilots like yourself who are willing to risk life and limb just for that tourist photo shoot.

i'll drink a few for you tonight.

I'll tell Robert & Chris to keep an eye out for any misplaced socks next time they go...

They might be a bit dusty now...
