Post Pom seeks drinking partners on Oz grand tour

I'm heading over to Sydney (first time in Oz) on the 3rd September to get 80 hours or so, hour building towards 150 before starting ATPL ground school here in the UK. Got a Piper Archer booked for three weeks with Illawarra at Bankstown. Plan is to do whatever flight test I need to do to get an Australian endorsement on my JAR PPL, bit of nav and RT practice around NSW, then head off for a big trip round Oz. Planning on Sydney, Bourke, Adelaide, Perth (time permitting), Alice Springs, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane and back to Sydney. Anyone fancy meeting up for a beer or two, maybe a bit of flying? Just name your city - chances are I'll be passing through.

E-mail me - would be good to find a friendly face or two in the outback.

Well now...if you were coming to Melbourne I'd gladly oblige, and I certainly would try gather a couple of others up too....namely BlueSkyBaron and perhaps Feeton.

Think about it anyway....it's not such a bad place

Cheers

Thumbs up

HI WGW,

Just got your email, and sent it off to GoGirl before I read this thread. I should be available for a drink or two around the 9th Sept. I'm not to far from Tullamarine / Essendon but if you wind up at Moorabbin, well thats to buggery away from here

Hey GG, there must be 20 prooners in MEL that we could find aside from BSB. Next time you're browsing PPRuNe check the locale of the posters! Some surprises there!

I'll keep an eye out in future....so Look Out all you Melbournites out there in PPRuNeland

Cheers

Guys, guys,

I'm flattered. Rumours of Oz friendliness are not unfounded. Will try to contact each of you. Gonna be a logistical nightmare when I get to Oz, but sounds like it'll be f***ing awesome. Guess I'll just arm myself with a list of phone numbers and see where the wind takes me...

Think I'm going to have to do the West Coast now. And Hey, Melbourne's only an extra few hours on the Sydney - Adelaide route, and what's hour building for if not to, well, build hours. Might give Bourke a miss - only included it for the Back of Bourke intonations.

Bracing myself for the 'What's wrong with Bourke' e-mails...

Goodonya CFI, I was only talking about stuff to see and do around my bit of country.........some of the most pleasant scenery in the place and some great flying to be had....and I'm sure a day at work with me would thrill (or frighten the sh!t out of) him.....then we have all that wildlife we can look at (and then kill and eat).
And as for being harmless, I just spent a huge bit of space on another thread convincing them all I'm a hardass.

What's on the menu wiz?

Bull testicles off seared on the branding iron, roo tales out of the fire cooked in fur, cockatoo brains scraped off the engine cowl of the 172, Goanna braised from the front wheel and left to cook on the LEO runway in the 42 degree sun...?

And if that's the entree, what you got for main?

Seriously tho WGW, if you REALLY want to see "Straya" hows about flying down the West coast, Broome, Exmouth, Coral Bay, Shark Bay, Kalbarri, Rottnest; come to see us Ppruners in Jandakot then drop in on Wiz (you won't meet anyone more "strine" than our Wiz! - that's a compliment mate, before you set your dingo on me) on your way back East via Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Warburton, Alice, (beware $50.00 landing fees at Uluru) Coober Pedy perhaps, before bravely venturing back into the uncivilised part of Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and so on, those barbarian places we see on the news occasionally) *shiver*.

Trip of a lifetime.

Hi WGW.

May I suggest the following itinery. Sydney, Melbourne (home of Aussie rules footy), Mildura (Nth of Mel), Broken Hill (The Silver City, NTH of Mildura. Absolutely great time GUARANTEED!!! Australias greatest mining town), Adelaide, Port Augusta, The Nullabor (take a good book to read for that leg), Kalgoorlie (Australias 2nd best mining town), Perth (great place), Geraldton, Exmouth, Karratha, Broome, the Kimberly's, Darwin, Alice Springs, Ayres Rock, Mount Isa, Cairns (take your condoms), Hamilton Island, Brisbane and then back to Sydney.

Have a great time. I think you will find most of the Oz blokes and shielas are first rate jokers and philanderers.

At the risk of getting my @rse kicked for hijacking a thread......

I`m in Cairns until this Saturday and in severe need of going out and getting hammered. Any offers Mr Stall? Or anyone?
Anyone know if Reddo left Junior here.... could we nick it?

Itinery also includes Darwin next week, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney progressing in weeks, so if anybody fancies a few Glasgow stylee.... (ie fised as a part) give me a shout. Possability of a bashette with WGW around Adelaide?

BTW: didn`t seem to get you e-mail WGW?
